oedipus; it's not the best idea for her to take ibuprofen with her not eating much. Yes, there's no doubt in my mind that it being an anti inflammatory and paracetamol not (kind of!) that it would work better. However, they also cause damage to the stomach if not taken with food and so if she isn't eating much/ at all because of the pain it could end up causing a stomach ulcer so it's not just looking at what helps for the pain but also the problems that each med can cause in certain situations. Really, that is the same with the Calprofen which is Ibuprofen in a suspension form; you'd be better off taking Calpol which is paracetamol than the Calprofen (presuming you have no health conditions or on any meds that you can't take it with) if you're not really eating as you do need to take something in at the same time. What may be better than taking those is also buying effervescence paracetamol (or Ibuprofen if you're eating properly again) tablets which dissolve in water and then you can drink them and you're sure you're getting the right dose. No problems with converting it from a child to an adult dose then and also you can gargle that in your mouth before swallowing as then it' likely to have more of an effect on your tongue.
Also, really, each piercer has their own protocol so if this one advices mouth wash as a large number do then that's what she should be using; reason being if something goes wrong and she's not been following their guidelines they can refuse to help as much as if she were following their aftercare plan.
The mouthwash won't help with the colour if it is down to oral thrush; it could in essence make it worse as it can get rid of the bacteria that is naturally there. Thrush is from the fungal infection caused by Candida, and when there is a lack of bacteria to protect the area (as you have areas of bacteria all over your body to protect it and prevent others from setting up infection) due to using a lot of mouthwash (which yeh, may help a lot against bacterial infection) then the fungi which mouthwash doesn't help against can overgrow which may be where your problem is and therefore the mouthwash won't help. This is why you need to talk to a pharmacist or even your piercer as to what they say though a pharmacist may be better because if it is oral thrush, a piercer is unlikely to know what you can do about it or diagnose it which a pharmacist will have more of an idea of and so can help you further.
