How do I find out how many ifnraction points I have?

Well, I think that's just badly worded :P
Nine points = a 24-hr ban, according to the rule page. So up to nine points means you don't have anything, then nine points equals a ban.
And and and, erm? Yes, Charlie, I think that if you have nine points, then get another six, that counts as 15...

I don't know. That's how I've always taken it to mean. But that 'nine free points' thing is a bit baffling.

And and and, yes, it does look kinda messy when you've got expired points and they're still there. It's very very useful from a mod pov., but it does look messy!

As for people's questions.

9 'free' points means you can get up to (but not including) 9 points before being banned from RYL.

Each infraction point adds one week onto hwo long the points take to Expire. they do NOT decrease 1 point a week. This means that if you get 6 points, after 6 weeks they will all expire. 8 points and it will take 8 weeks. The system is like this because it means the more serious your rule breach, the longer (all) the points last, and therefore the longer you have to 'behave' yourself for, as you'll remain closer to getting a ban for longer.

Once the points expire your current infractions are re-set back to 0.
