I have gone with the bandana tied around my arm look recently, as there's still really fresh and bright big scars that don't really blend well with the rest of the faded stuff. It just gets awkward after it goes day after day, but if you can pull it off I think it's relatively unquestionable from time to time.

However, Yesterday I took it off after work and stopped by the Bar/Laundromat and had nearly forgotten til I reached my hand out to pass the bartender my money, and it was like ZING, display for all patrons. :/ I hate that moment where you scramble to get it hidden again, I practically threw the money at the poor man and yanked my arm back like he bit me. If nobody noticed before that, then I sure made it awkward after that.
Also, Carousel-- Do you have any sheer leggings? Long sleeved cardigans sound like it's going to be dreadfully hot. I would keep cooling packs on your body if possible. And obviously make sure you hydrate hydrate hydrate. Do you have any kind of longer sleeves made out of a more breathable fabric?
And LilRed's idea has worked for me in the past too, depending where the scars on your arms are most visible. If nothing else it sometimes serves as a distraction. Whether it's hairtyes, a variety of small bracelets, kandi, etc.. If you stack enough it generally works.
This has probably been mentioned before, but I thought I'd throw it out there. There is a homeopathic topical called arnica that helps reduce scars and bruises(As well as help with muscular pain). They have a gel, cream, and ointment. All health food stores will have it. Aloe vera gel also helps a lot. Those two helped me get rid of some scars on my legs.
I had no idea arnica was good for scars. o.o I use it on my shoulder muscles all the time. Maybe there's no need to go out and buy expensive scar cream after all!
They make it so it can breathe in the hot sun and stuff, i worked at a place that sold it and tho it is expensive its works well and can be worn with out getting to hot.

i know this is a lot less covering than a lot of your guys' suggestions, but bracelets work pretty well in the summer. i always wear them, and i have string ones tight enough that you can't see through them and in colors like red and yellow so healing cuts are mistaken for bracelets and string.
I've only got recent scars on my upper arms, which is half because I live in a leopard shrug I've got!
It's a life saver. Used to wear it because I disliked my upper arms, but now it covers scars, and it's so nice and cool, compared to cardi's or anything!
also, I've heard using any form of wart removal creams (with salicylic acid in) help to remover hypertrophic scars... I'm not sure how good this would be for skin but supposedly it works quickly and helps flatten out the scar. Has anyone tried this?

I've heard that it can be done on scars that have been healing for a while (10+ months) and mine have, so I'm going to attempt it, I'll keep it updated on this thread whether it works or not :)

A thin button-down shirt over a t-shirt or something similar works nice. If it's extremely warm this might be uncomfortable, but I find it's a good way to stay covered but dress "appropriately".

yeah, I've had this problem a lot. Depending on placement, you could wear a larger watch. T-shirts often have sleeves that reach just above the elbow - for me that covers some of it. What I usually did when I covered up was really just to wear a thin button down over a T-shirt. I'm sorry I can't be any more helpful.

light shirts...check is my fav, and for the girlies, those sort of see through shirts that are full length will cover scars and you will still look stylish

- Long sweatbands are good for covering a reasonable length of the wrist and lower arm.
- Wearing a long sleeve tshirt under a shortsleeve tshirt (looks more like a style thing than a long sleeved top on its own sometimes)
- Leather wrist cuffs/other male jewellery
-When swimming, wearing a rash vest with sleeves can cover scars on upper arm
I've done the red cross route (In UK) before, The appointment it's self was a scary but the staff were tactful & kind (more so that the GP that I asked to refer me). The actual stuff they give you is the same Derma Blend concealer people have mentioned a Lot already.
Pro Points about Derma Blend /Vicky Labratories
-Through Red Cross you get it free
- Now available in the larger Boots stores in UK inlcu Scotland (Called Derma Blend /Vicky Labs)
- Hypo-allergenic/safe for sensitive skin & does seem to stick to scars
Negative
- Redcross process can be very slow So I never did it again but it was useful to find tone so didn't waist money buying the wrong one & when I did it it was then only available online or via US sights
-They are expensive (£20 a stick)
-This is not a solution for covering large areas it just doesn't look natural enough especially if like alot of people you have ladders of scars and normal skin in-between (you would also get through too much of it & it would take ages to apply)
-It's not waterproof really don't believe them when they say you can swim in it or have it still on for day two.
Conclusion
Great to own a sick for covering up the specific scars (or face/neck scars) or to hide & make red/purple scars less obvious. Also consider RedX for finding your skin tone (though remember if your skin tans then it will no longer match).
But If SI & Scars are something you hide Derma isn't good enough to keep your secret & it's not practilce for large areas/whole arms/thighs.
(PS*One thing you could do if you do RedX is at the appointment ask for an insider way to get a refreshed prescription for when it runs out so you don't have to start back at step 1 asking the GP for a referral that might make it quicker to get more for free so you don't have to buy it, I didn't have the energy to do it all again when I don't use it much as just wear LSleeves). Hope this helps people know more about Derma & Red Cross. X
I don't bother covering them up most the time.... so what if people stare they haven't a clue what you have been through just ignore any comments or questions.... I know that's hard for people with low self esteem
