I've just read 4 books in a week - I was bored! They were all interesting and all about abuse, I don't tend to read many books on this subject because I worry they will all be the same, however I've been proved wrong with these 4. Yes they were about abuse the authors suffered but they were written in different styles which I liked. The books were

"...that incremental suicide of turning your life into a dream, to make being awake as similar to sleep as possible. Drowsily, lazily, dry-mouth your way through the day's ceremonies, fumble your way back into the dew-bather you never really left, draped in brown, brown now all around, the haze!" - Russell Brand on drug addiction.

See my post about The Far Country by Nevil Shute - a book I thoroughly recommend, as I do anything written by him.
I read fairly quickly, on average two to five books a week, and I would find being deprived of reading almost impossible to bear.
As a former soldier I read a fair amount of military history, but I also read a wealth of other stuff, including novels by authors such as Maeve Binchy and, more recently, by Erica James - both of whom give me some sort of insight into the female psyche! On balance I find books by women display much more understanding of the sensitive side of human relationships - but perhaps this is not really so surprising?
