I'm fully caught up on Haikyuu! now. Still don't see the point of Kiyoko, it's actually really annoying me how pointless she is. Oh well. Also when I first saw Oikawa I really liked him, but the more and more he shows up, the more I start to dislike him. However there are a lot of characters that I really like to make up for those two haha. Kageyama has been growing on me with every episode. Captain Sawamura might just be my favourite, or Nishinoya. I can't decide.

I also finally got round to finishing the first season of Free! ..... a year after I started it, jeez that was a long hiatus for me. It didn't disappoint though, it was delightfully cheesy :) I can't wait to start season 2 now, and meet these new characters.

Also this thread seems to have turned into a 2 person discussion haha. Has no-one else been watching any anime? I love hearing other peoples views on series, and their thoughts on characters.

I finally sat down and watched Attack on Titan. Quickly developed a favourite character who then proceeded to be killed in a titan attack. Regardless, it's quickly become my newest obsession and I can't wait for the new series next year.

I don't like Free!, but I really like Rei and Nagisa. I wish there was a way I could watch just the parts with them. I've even got a little charm of Nagisa hanging off my 3DS that my boyfriend bought me at a convention!

Also, second season of Durarara! soon, yessss.

Rei and Nagisa are fabulous! Detective Rei-chan was one of my favourite parts of the first season haha. I have seen some incredibly cute free! charms, I really want some. Maybe i'll get one for my new phone.

I started watching Noragami today, i'm on episode 9 and I really like it! I kind of don't want it to end. I really like the convenience of short 12 or 13 episode anime series, but I then always feel really sad if I end up loving them and then they end so suddenly.

Oh one thing I really love about Noragami, the opening song. It's so catchy, I think it's quickly become one of my favourite OPs. What are some of you guy's favourite OPs or EDs?

So I somehow missed this last year when it was revealed, but it seems an anime adaptation of The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan, a spin-off of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, is in production.

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news...n-anime-listed

I hope it does get made. I know what the basic plot of the manga is, and it sounds great. Plus I really like Nagato, especially the ordinary Nagato that we see in the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, as that's the Nagato that appears in the spin-off.

In the mean time I am re-watching some old favourites of mine, Baccano and Hetalia. Baccano is my (so far) favourite anime series, and Hetalia is just so easy to watch and hilarious I don't mind re-watching it every now and then.

As long as it doesn't repeat the whole endless eight thing, I wouldn't mind a spinoff of that show.

I'm not really sure what to watch at the moment. I'm watching a bunch of live shows, but I end up watching those all in one day most of the time. Maybe I'll get around to rewatching some older anime. Not really sure, though.

Also, I usually skip openings and don't watching endings T_T Only a few of them are catchy enough for me to watch, but even then, I never remember what they're from, lol.

And yeah, Attack on Titan was pretty good about killing random key characters because...well...because it can. Made it pretty interesting.

And yeah, Noragami was pretty interesting. I remember not feeling particularly upset about the ending. I think it wraps up pretty nicely, so you aren't left hanging too much. But yeah, I know the feeling of not wanting an anime to end quite well. That void of not knowing what will happen next in the lives of the people you've been keeping up with for the past who knows how long. Yeah, that's a rough feeling. It happens all too much with the 12 episode shows.

Anyways, I guess I'm going to try to figure out what to watch sometime tomorrow or the next day. Maybe I'll pick up on the next season of Free! That could work. Or maybe I'll just find some show that isn't currently live.

I've watched Umineko, it's a rather gruesome anime that I'd recommend to those that love to watch weird stuff with murders. It's interesting because the murdered people are just a part of a game between two people.

Plan to watch Death Note soon, you can see I'm not an anime person.

Endless Eight was absolutely ridiculous. I honestly don't know who made the executive decision to include that whole thing in the anime, but it was the worst idea ever. The first time I watched the series, I diligently watched every single one, just in case something different happened. I was pretty pissed off by the end of it haha. I just skip them now xD

I always watch the opening and ending once, then after that I usually skip them, unless I feel like watching them again, but I don't think I skipped the opening once for Noragami I loved it that much. I never skip the Free! endings either, they are so damn catchy, I always find myself singing along haha

I've never heard of Umineko, but honestly that sounds exactly like my kind of anime. I'll definitely remember that one!

I frickin love Death Note, it's what I always recommend to people who are just starting to watch anime. It's so easy to get sucked into the storyline. Good choice :)

I know, right! Death Note is one of the best animes to watch if you're just starting out. More than half of my friends got introduced to anime via Death Note.

One of the my favorites is the Opening theme for Bleach, the very first season. The song was called Asterisk. And the Bleach OP5- the graphics and the song, they're fast-paced and really cool ^^ The soundtrack for Fate/Stay Night is also amazing. And I really liked both the OPs for Darker Than Black!! :P

I recently started watching Noragami and Suki tte Ii Na Yo. I've also wanted to watch Cowboy Bebop for awhile, a lot of people have told me about how it's kind of legendary in the anime world, and I wanted to check it out myself. Haven't been able to yet, though :/

Suki tte Ii Na Yo is 'Say I love you' right? I started watching that the other day. I decided because I had been watching a lot of currently airing anime so it was all subtitled, I wanted to watch something dubbed for a bit, because frankly my eyes were starting to hurt from al the reading.

Worst idea ever. I don't know if the dub for that is particularly bad, or if it's just because it sounded weird after all the Japanese, but oh god I couldn't even make it through 2 episodes of the dub. I was just cringing so much. I really liked the story though, so i'm probably going to try again in a few days but stick with subtitles.

I realise by saying this i'm probably bringing up the whole dubs vs subs debate and some people I know can get very heated about it haha, so this might be a terrible idea. But what do you guys think? Personally I don't really mind dubs, if they are somewhat decent. I haven't come across many series where I have thought the dubs were that terrible that I couldn't still enjoy it.

I just kind of got used to subs at some point, and now it's all I watch. Generally speaking, I'm just used to hearing the Japanese voices. If I was used to dubs, I'd probably go with that. I prefer subs, but it's not as though I could ever really bash anyone for preferring dubs. It's just kind of personal preference. Suki tte Ii Na Yo was a pretty interesting one, if I remember right. I don't remember it being crazy incredible or anything like that, but I think I at least somewhat enjoyed watching it. It may really just be that you aren't used to hearing dubs anymore after watching subbed anime. That's my problem now. Whenever I hear dubs it just seems so abnormal to me, since I've watched almost exclusively subbed anime since I started watching. That said, there are some pretty good dubs out there, so I'm not going to say one is better than the other. It really is just a matter of preference.

And yeah, I'll have to go back through and look for good OPs and EDs. I do remember seeing some really awesome ones, I just don't remember what anime they were for :(

@XxDarkenedHeartXx: I also recommend Death Note. One of the best animes I've ever watched. If you're pretty new to anime, I'll go ahead and throw a suggestion your way: Psycho Pass. It kind of fits with the genre your on now. After Death Note, I think it will work pretty well. It's another one of my all time favorites. After that, I guess you can go through a few of the 'must watch' animes like Angel Beats and Code Geass. Those three (including Death Note) are probably the top 3 'must watch' animes that I can think of. Clannad would also be on most people's lists, but that doesn't necessarily fit into the genre you've been watching, so you can avoid that for now. Then, if you get done with those and want any more recommendations, just ask, and we can probably hook you up. I know I can probably come up with a pretty long list of anime to watch just to get you started.

@Tan.D: You should watch Cowboy Bebop. It's pretty crazy good. It's a pretty strange one, but one worth watching, for sure. Oh, and music. The music in that anime is amazing. I put off watching that anime for a long time as well, but it's really good. I really enjoyed it when I watched it.

I agree, if the dub of an anime is pretty decent, I don't mind it much. Like Bleach- the dub was actually really cool for me- so I stuck with 'em for most of the while. Although I kinda prefer the subs for most animes. Yep, Suki tte Ii Na Yo is 'Say I Love You'. The story's actually pretty good- I was a little irritated by Tachibana's character initially (she seemed very Bella-ish, from Twilight, for some reason :/), but I sort of got over it now. I only ever watched the dub for Suki tte Ii Na Yo, so I don't know, but it seemed alright to me.

@no_Brakes- Yep, I'm going to try Cowboy Bebop as soon as I can. And if you say the music is good, then it's going straight on top of the list for me now. :P And I agree- Code Geass. DEFINITELY a must-watch.

I also really liked Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, and Sword Art Online. I wanna check out the season 2 for SOA really bad, but I haven't been able to watch that many animes recently >.<

I don't know, maybe it was just because I hadn't watched any dubs for a while, it just sounded weird in comparison haha.

Code Geass is definitely a must watch. I was introducing my best friend to anime a while ago and as I was explaining it I could see that she wasn't impressed with the idea of an anime all about war and giant mechas, but I asked her to give it a shot. We ended up watching the whole 2 seasons in I think it was a 3 day marathon. She loved it.

Other than the Noragami OP, I really liked the first opening for Durarara! and I think it was the second ED for KnB? Catal Rhyhtm by Oldcodex. It was super catchy!

Clannad was good. I remember feeling like I had my heart ripped out in front of me, it was very emotional. But I would still recommend it.

Wow, this is a long thread! Has anyone tried to compile all the anime mentioned into a list w/ select comments for a sort of RYL anime recommendations list?

I just finished watching FLCL last night. I hadn't seen it in 9 years and I wanted to know if I'd still like it the same. It's as endearing as I remember.

I'm also going to watch Nana again. Ai Yazawa is so excellent at character development, depth and subtlety as a writer; and I'm not even into shojo.

^That is actually a fantastic idea. I have 3 days off in a row starting on Monday and with nothing else to do I might start on that.

Edit: Ok so I couldn't sleep so I started it tonight. So far we have recommended 114 different anime series or movies. It's just a basic list right now, but I think I will create a blog for this, and make a post with all the anime that people have recommended but haven't said anything about it. Then i'll make another post with a list of all the anime with related comments and post a link here sometime next week when it's done :)

One (hopefully) easy to read list featuring all the anime we have collectively recommended. If you would like to add any comments to any series already on the list just write them in this thread and I will add them to the list. Also I will update the list whenever someone talks about a new series :)

Let me know if anything needs changing or if you think something would work better

Wow, this is incredible. I was thinking at one point or another that we'd probably mentioned a ton of anime here. It'd be hard to recommend all of it to people who'd just popped into this thread. This would make things pretty easy.

Only thing I'd change is that there's a typo in the 'One Outs' description. It says "one p" instead of "one up." Otherwise, I really like the list. This was a great idea.

Now I'm going to have to go through it and watch all the ones I haven't seen. And rewatch all the ones I have...Well, this ought to be fun.

I'm thinking that next I might add a non-spoiler screen cap to each of them so you can see what the art style is like. What do you guys think? I don't know about everyone else but the art style can sometimes make or break an anime for me. For example while I did enjoy Soul Eater a lot. I didn't particularly like the more western style of it. I also think that some series, especially those from Key and KyoAni, have such beautiful scenery and art that it makes the series just 100 times better.

There are a lot of shows that I stopped watching on the first couple of episodes or decided not to watch as a direct result of the art style. I think adding an image would probably be a great idea. That definitely plays into what anime I watch next. When I haven't started watching, pretty much the only things I have to go on are the synopsis, which is usually vague or generally bad, and some screencaps, which usually give me a pretty good idea of the feel of the show.
