I was scared about going on planes too, but planes really aren't that bad! Just bring your ipod or whatever along and listen to it..it's really not scary at all. :]
I flew from USA to England, which is like 8 hours. And it wasn't scary in the slightest. You should def try if you ever can.
I have absolutely no idea! North Eastern America and/or Canada was an idea, but I don't think I'd get very far or for very long on my budget. Egypt too, or Morocco, or a safari somewhere.
Japan would be great, but sadly it is one of the most expensive places around.
Flying isn't too bad. It always hurts my ears, but it's not a huge problem.
Claire, You know you wanted to go on a skiing holiday and now thinking of traveling..have you ever thought of working abroad..lots of British companies employ people abroad to be chalet hosts (in ski resorts) or, working in hotels or in childcare in the winter, or working on campsites in the summer. The money isn't good..but atleast you get some..plus, it's good experience and great fun. The work is hard mind but..it is fun and you get to be in a foreign country which is always cool.

Yeah, Leigh, I thought of that. Since I've withdrawn from my masters degree I just want something to fill my time and let me experience something new. I have now ditched the skiing idea, since it was coming in at about £800 for a week. I think I need to do a lot of research and figure out where I want to go.
Yeah skiing is expensive and the only way I could ever really go again (unless I magically become rich) Is to work for a ski company..they usually do deals where you get a place to stay (while your working out there..so like if you lose you job you'd lose your place) All food (3 meals a day), a lift pass and free ski/boot/snowboard rental. I guess you'd want a few lessons but you may find someone else who's out there who's a good skier/boarder and might teach you.

I went to Malta because my grandfather has family there. We went on a month long trip, 3 weeks to visit my grandma & mom's side of the family in England and a week in Malta to visit my grandpa's family.
Oh, if only we could magically become rich! I'd be looking to go around March time probably, because that allows me to work a bit more during the busy periods at work.
I wouldn't mind volunteering abroad, but I'm not going to pay thousands for the privilege. Travelling around Europe is an option too, but again, it is one of the most expensive places. I also have no idea how I'd go about getting a job in Europe. I can only speak very, very, very basic French.
I didn't pay a penny to work abroad (Oh actually I paid like a thing where If i completed the contract I'd get it returned to me but cant for life of me remember what it was called) It is a job..but it's a job abroad instead of at home. You didn't need to speak any languages. I said I knew a little french but when I was in Italy/austria I was a little stuck haha but it was ok you work it out.
A summer season is more expensive than a winter- I found but it's great fun. If you try websites such as 'seasonworks' or 'natives' they usually have more info. I just thought it was a good idea...safer than 'backpacking' or just going out to resort and looking for a place/a job and a less expensive way of doing it. Granted you have to work, about 6 out of 7 days and the hours are looong although the smaller the company less you'll have to do.
In france in low season (summer) I was doing maybe 10-1 or something haha once it's done its done
But yeah, something to think about, weigh up.
