I still can't watch any anime so I am continuing to name animals after characters . We recently got a deer in that had a double sided eye infection, so for a while it couldn't open its eyes. I decided to name it Brock xD I also got to name a bear, but wanted to name it after my black bear stuffed toy - Kuma. Its not named after any character but it is Japanese.

@zombiehunter
I've been thinking about watching that one for awhile now. Just been busy with work and whatnot. Haven't really had the chance to watch a lot of anime at all, much less catch up with the list of stuff I have piled up to watch.
@Palladion
Not being able to watch anime at all would make me sad :( I guess, though, being able to spend time rescuing animals would probably make up for it. Especially when you're able to name them after anime characters, lol. And, I guess on the plus side, there's going to be a lot of stuff to watch whenever you get back around to watching anime. I still haven't finished Free! yet, but that's actually next on my list of anime to finally get around to watching.
Anyhow, I did sort of finish watching a few shows. I was watching them live, so they only just finished. First one was No Game No Life. It's interesting. I kind of liked the show. It's basically just people living in a world where everything is decided by games. It's an interesting premise, and the characters are semi stereotypical, but not bad. It's worth a watch if you have nothing to watch. Not amazing, not bad.
The second one was Gokukoku no Brynhildr. That one was super gory and kind of ridiculous. It also wasn't amazing or anything, but at least interesting. If you're into dark stuff, it might be a good one to watch. I enjoyed it, at least. If you want the premise on this one, it'd be easier to just google it. I'm not particularly good at explaining things anyways.
The last one I just finished was Mekakucity Actors. That one was also strange. I'm mostly just confused after watching it. I feel like if it was a bit more developed, it would probably end up being a bit better. It probably doesn't help that I would watch like two episodes every other week, so I more or less forgot what happened each time I watched new episodes. It might be worth a watch.
Basically, nothing stellar. Just plain old stuff. Between the three, I'm not really even sure which I'd recommend the most. Not really anything super special going for any of them. That being said, all of them are pretty enjoyable. I wouldn't turn anyone away from watching any of them. I liked them, at the very least.
It makes me very sad, I guess the wildlife does make up for it, but I do miss it. Oh well only 5 more weeks until I'm back home and have actual internet again. I have so much to catch up on it's untrue. I still need to finish Free! Then season 2 of Free! actually started today so I'll have to catch up on that as well. Plus I can start trying to make a dent in the huge list I had before I went away.
I've also been keeping a close eye on this thread and have so many things I want to watch. Kuroko no Basket is right up there. I've actually wanted to watch that for a while, but I always seemed to think that I wouldn't be able to get that into sports anime series, as really i'm not that into sports in general, but given how much I adore Free! I think i'll like one about basketball too.
I've also been hearing some stuff about a series called Haikyuu, it's about volleyball and some people I follow on Tumblr seem to think it's pretty good. I have a very bad feeling that for a few weeks of my life sports anime is going to control me
We need never be hopeless, because we can never be irreparably broken
Watched he entire Gantz box set yesterday it's pretty awesome though it could be annoying at times like when characters die because when they should have been shooting they were trying to say something heroic and it gets weird in places too but on the whole a good watch
I'm actually watching Haikyuu! right now. It's pretty good. Kind of falls in line with Free! / Kuroko no Basket. I had the same sort of idea when I started watching Kuroko no Basket, considering that I'm not really much of a fan of basketball in the first place, but I really enjoyed it regardless. Haikyuu is pretty good as well. Same type of show. It's still ongoing, though, so it may or may not be finished by the time you get back.
Also, I can't believe the second season for Free! is already starting. I just finished the first season the other day, and excluding all the fanservice, I actually liked it. It's a good show. I might have to start watching the second season already. Might wait a few weeks first, though. But yeah, I've been watching a lot of sports anime recently. It's all pretty good, though, so no complaints. I liked them all a lot more than I thought I would.
Good luck catching up when you get back. It's definitely going to take awhile. I've been here watching the whole time and am still falling behind on stuff to watch.
I have actual internet again! I am so happy. I promised my best friend I would wait to watch Free with her once i'm back home, so for now i've started Kuroko no Basket. I'm only 2 episodes in but I really like it already. From the little I knew about the characters before watching it, I have a feeling I know who my favourite character will be, but he hasn't appeared yet, so I'll have to wait and see if he lives up to my expectations. I really like Riko and Kise so far though.
Also I never knew basketball could be so dramatic. I think I said the same thing about swimming when I started watching Free! as well haha.
Edit: I'm now 10 episodes in and I have concluded that this is the most ridiculous anime I have ever seen... and I absolutely love it. Seriously eagle's eye view, invisible guys, seeing muscles and talent in numbers, copycat abilities e.t.c. I have no idea what this even is, but I can't stop watching. I have learnt more about basketball in the last few hours than I ever thought was possible to know xD

Yeah, I was the same way when I was watching that anime. As little as I know about basketball in real life, and as little as I ever watch it (never), that anime was absolutely amazing. Haikyuu is somewhat similar, though that's not done airing yet, so it'd probably be a good idea to wait a couple weeks for that one. That said, Kuroko no Basket is better than Haikyuu in my opinion.
Either way, that anime really is a great one. I just couldn't stop watching it once I got started.
Wait guys I was reading the previous posts and...there's a season 2 of Free! already???? ( person who has been disconnected from actual internet for 4 months here). I want to watch it so badly(I'm pretty much obsessed with swinming lol), but um all the access I get to the internet is through my phone, meaning Android so yeahhh.
In the meantime I've been reading manga. I don't really read Shoujo that much but I guess I was in the mood for something like thay :) Im waiting for the next chapter of Horimiya to be released and I've started rereading Peach Girl(maim character used to be s swimmer XD)
Yep season 2 of Free! is already 5 episodes in I think. I haven't seen them yet, but from what I know there's a couple of new characters and some of existing characters have had some pretty incredible character development. I really can't wait to watch it.
You are totally right about not wanting to stop watching KnB once started. I think I was watching the same game of Basketball for like 3 episodes, but I just needed to know how it ended!
I am so sad, I really hope the studio is just taking a hiatus and not closing for good. I haven't seen all the Ghibli films, but the ones I have seen I love.
We need never be hopeless, because we can never be irreparably broken
I had heard some of the rumors, but I was hoping they weren't true :(
Also yeah, I've been super busy and haven't been able to watch a whole lot of anime. I pretty much just watch an episode or two while I stop to eat lunch. Kind of sad. It's difficult not to just power through an entire season in a night. That said, at least I have internet and can watch it whenever I want. I'd hate not having any access to it at all for any extended period of time.
Also yeah, I probably need to start watching the second season of Free! I'm currently watching Fairy Tail, SAO season 2, Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei, Haikyuu, and Ao Haru Ride. All of which are still airing. It keeps me from spending all day watching them. Hard to keep up with everything, though. That said, all of them are pretty good, so if you're looking for something to watch live, I'd go for it.
I just finished season 1 of KnB. Holy crap I was on the edge of my seat! Aomine is definitely living up to my expectations. However I think Kise is still my favourite character, I didn't expect that at all haha. I'm excited to see what Kuroko and Kagami are going to do next though after what happened at the Inter-High. I honestly never thought I would be this excited over basketball. What has my life come to.
I also just read that the second season of Durarara is set to air in January. That seems so far away! I am very excited for this.

We need never be hopeless, because we can never be irreparably broken
Agh, I'm going to be ridiculously busy in January T_T
I'll make time. It's almost definitely worth it. Also yeah, I kept finding myself a bit confused at how much I was getting into basketball watching that. I don't watch basketball now, or anything, but at the time I felt like I was really into basketball for some reason. I'm not sure who my favorite character was in the whole thing. I'd almost say Kuroko just because he always seems so out of place in the whole thing. It makes me laugh. Next to him, probably Aomine was my favorite. Then again, it's kind of hard to pick. They're all pretty awesome characters.
Well right now, I actually want nothing more than to grab a basketball and play. This anime just gets me pumped up and makes me think that actually, yeah I could totally do all of that. Except the reality is I would find a basketball hoop then have absolutely no idea what to do haha. Sigh.
Edit: Now the dumb basketball dorks are making me cry. Of all things I didn't expect this anime to be such an emotional roller-coaster!
Apparently, according to some people who have read the manga, all the best stuff happens after the first season of DRRR! ended. I'm really struggling not to look it up. I don't read manga. I don't really know why, i've just never been able to get into them. But I really want to know what this 'good stuff' is.

We need never be hopeless, because we can never be irreparably broken
Yeah, the show really did get pretty emotional here and there. Not what I was expecting, to say the least. But yeah, it really does make you want to work hard to do something. Whether that be basketball or whatever, it makes you want to get out there.
Also, yeah, I've never really been able to get into manga. I feel like if I ever started reading it, I would get hooked on it immediately, but then again, I never have the urge to start reading it. I just always get the impression that I prefer watching everything happen on screen rather than reading about it and seeing images of it.
Well, I finished Kuroko no Basket. I have never been happier that a 3rd season has been green-lit. They seriously ended the season right there?!
I feel like I should take a break from sports anime, but Haikyuu! is just calling out to me. Oh well here we go again. I wonder if volleyball can get as emotional and heart pounding as basketball did.
We need never be hopeless, because we can never be irreparably broken
KnB is a bit better, in my opinion, but I think Haikyuu does a pretty good job. It's just a bit more lighthearted, I think. And yeah, I absolutely can't wait for the next season of KnB. It really left off at a cliffhanger.
In the mean time, I guess I've got quite a bit of anime to watch.
I'm almost caught up on Haikyuu! I'm at episode 14 right now and I'm really enjoying it. It is way more light hearted and personally I think that's just what I needed haha. I love the healthy rivalry between Kurasuno and Nekoma. That's exactly what a sports rivalry should be like, it was really nice to watch and pretty hilarious.
The only thing I don't really get about this anime is that female manager, Kiyoko. What exactly is the point of her? She has said about 5 words in the whole series so far and has added next to nothing to the storyline in total. At this point it almost seems like they put her in just so they had a female character amongst all the males, which honestly is just the worst reason to have a character around at all.
We need never be hopeless, because we can never be irreparably broken
Honestly, I'm pretty sure that's literally the only reason she's in there. Maybe she'll mean a bit more later on in the show. Somehow I doubt it, though.
But yeah, it's a lot more lighthearted. A lot more. I think that I prefer the feel of KnB a bit more, but I still really like Haikyuu. I just hate waiting week after week for a new episode, lol.
I might start trying to watch the new season of Free! pretty soon whenever it has a few more episodes done. That way I can watch most of it in one sitting on the weekend. At the very least, though, watching live anime keeps me from spending all night long watching 20 episodes of some new anime I found.
