Chapter 277
Gerard stared at him, ignoring the uneasy stares he was getting from the small crowd that had gathered around them. He could see the tears in Franks eyes and if there was one thing he knew about Frank it was that when he cried, he was usually telling the truth. Gerard glanced back at Simon and thought about how much bigger this mess had gotten. Simon glared at him before letting his girlfriend help him up and away in the opposite direction, still looking quite confused about the fact he'd supposedly slept with someone else and managed to get another guy pregnant.
Frank looked nervously at Gerard, waiting for a reaction, for some kind of repeat from the night before but there was none. Gerard held his gaze for a second before holding his arms out to him. Frank ran straight into them, not caring what anyone else thought, just needing the safety and comfort of being held. He could hear Gerard whispering apologies over and over in his ear but he didn't pay any attention, he just wanted to be close again.
Mikey watched before glancing at the car and back again,
“Gee, if you and Frank need some space, to sort things out or whatever, me and Hannah can have Jaidon if you want.”
“For a couple of hours?”
“No, we'll keep him tonight for you and bring him back tomorrow if you need us too.”
“Thanks Mikey. Listen, take the car, I'll get us a cab back.”
Gerard handed the keys to Mikey and watched his younger brother head back to the car and drive off. He looked down at Frank and could feel him shaking in his arms, tears soaking through Gerard's shirt. Gerard kissed the top of his head before walking them into Starbucks and ordering coffee before joining him at the table. Frank took the cup gratefully but didn't look Gerard in the eyes. Gerard reached across and placed a finger under Franks chin, tilting his head up slightly before leaning over and capturing his lips in a soft kiss that seemed to say everything he needed it to say. He pulled back and looked into the younger man's eyes before sitting back down,
“Where did you go last night?”
“I don't know. I drank some more and then when I stopped walking I didn't know where I was and fell asleep under a tree.”
“Frankie, you should've come back home.”
“I couldn't! You said not to come back.”
“I was angry. Everyone says things they don't mean when they're angry.”
Gerard's voice had risen slightly as he spoke and Frank closed his eyes before speaking slowly and quietly,
“Gee, I don't want another argument.”
“I...I'm sorry.”
“It's fine just don't shout so much.”
“No, I mean I'm sorry for everything. I know I always say it but Frank I mean it more than ever now. I want us to be a proper, normal family. You me and Jaidon and the new baby when it arrives.”
“I know Gee, I want that too.”
Gerard smiled and held Franks hand across the table, rubbing his thumb gently over the back of it while the finished their drinks.
“Feeling any better now?”
“A little. My head hurts though.”
“I'm not surprised.”
“Are you angry? I mean about me drinking?”
“I'm not angry, I just...I dunno. Maybe it's my fault for being like it myself.”
“It's not your fault Gee...well, not the drinking anyway.”
Gerard smiled before taking his hand and leading him back outside to hail a taxi. One pulled up straight away and they both climbed in the back, Gerard giving their address as Frank snuggled into his side. They climbed out a few minutes later and entered the house, Frank slumping down on the couch as soon as he got inside. Gerard eyed him wearily before making a decision that he knew Frank would hate,
“Frankie, I think you should get a shower and get changed.”
“Why?”
“I think we should go to the hospital to make sure the baby is still okay.”
“But Gee! We were there yesterday and that's what started all this anyway.”
“Frankie, if we don't get it checked out then the same thing could happen that happened last time.”
Frank looked into Gerard's eyes, knowing how important this was, before giving in and heading upstairs to shower.
