i think over the last decade, as our knowledge and understanding of the wider universe has grown our belief in organised religion has fallen.
if a higher power does exist it will be more amazing and complex than anything we could imagine and place down into books and buildings.
hence atheism is on the rise.

My nephew learned a new trick today :)
He can't crawl or anything, so it seems like this is his new method of movement. Apparently I did exactly the same thing as a babeh.

I find religion very interesting. I am a religious person, and I stand by my own beliefs which sometimes happen to be very different than the church's beliefs. One belief that I have is that IF there is an afterlife that is good and you are a good person, no matter what you believe in, even if you don't believe in anything at all, you will go there. It would take a lot in my mind for someone to go to hell/bad after life.

I'm not religious, I don't have anything against people who believe, I'm happy for them to have such a strong trust in something, but I don't appreciate them trying to convert my own beliefs to theirs...

I think there are just people and they do good and bad things. It's an unrealistic pressure to put on someone, that they have to be 'good' all their life no matter what.

O_O I have never squealed so loudly in my entire life.
One thing that annoys me about religion, particularly Christianity, is that they can talk of "loving thy neighbour" and in the same breath, talk about how homosexuality is wrong. That's not exactly loving thy neighbour, is it? They should change it to "Love thy neighbour, as long as they don't sin", instead of being a bunch of hypocrites.

What's a good person though?
I think there are just people and they do good and bad things. It's an unrealistic pressure to put on someone, that they have to be 'good' all their life no matter what.
A good person in my mind is someone who does more good things than bad things, or someone who tries to the best of his/her ability to be good. No one is perfect, nor can be good every second of every day. But a good person is someone who tries to do the right thing. Someone in my mind could have made a lot of mistakes and spent most of their life doing bad things, but has stopped doing those things and is now a productive person, is a good person.
