Verbal abuse = "You're a bitch", "You're stupid/dumb", etc.

Emotional abuse = "You're a burden", "You'll never find someone else to put up with you" "It's your fault I hurt you", etc.

S'difference.

Why is an "Adult" label needed in EDS?

I'm unsure whether 'bullying' is needed too, it's a forum of abuse.
i agree with this, i think sexual/physical/emotional covers the forms of bullying as bullying is abuse.

Graphic is not needed, in any forum.
I only would suggest graphc for serious and A&B as I think those are the only places where it could come anywhere near to that... but thinking about it you may have a point

what about in R&V, those could maybe get graphic couldn't they?

then again... what one thinks of as graphic another probably wouldn;t...

oh, i think for sure as my R/V being graphic at times :) but i suppose it's another one of those subjective ones.

I think bullying needs it's own label mainly as it may encourage more people to post on the topic (A lot of people have complained about this before as they feel almost unworthy due to all the SA posts)
Verbal deserves it's own labels regardless, all abuse is emotional, anyway.

I know there is a difference... but technically SA and rape are different... and technically physical and domestic are different... and technically there iss neglect and financial abuse too... I just thought it was easier to put them under the 3 umbrella terms

Some people on the ED board only really feel comrotable posting on there as it is it's own little community, I don't see why it shouldn't be there.

I would say 'graphic' it just far too subjective. I think if you're on here you should expect to come across content that isn't exactly lovely.

Yes, good point. I've added physical but I still think verbal should be there.

But I still don't understand why it needs an Adult label? I know that some people like to stay in the ED board, but if it's not to do with Eating Disorders, it would be moved anyway? Or am I missing the point?

i just think it's important, as someone said earlier in the thread, to encourage people to use the most appropriate forum rather than just the one they feel most comfortable in.

I'm not sure if A&B needs adult or not... mainly as it's there now and I've never seen it used...
then again that could be as I'm not sure how many people really know when it's meant to be used...

i think the mental health forum just needs the generic SI/ED/Abuse/Suicide/Adult ones.

i think that A&B needs Adult because sometimes people discuss the sexual difficulties they have as adults resulting from past experiences.

That's better, I feel.

It was also discussed in the CT a while back that instead of using SI, ED, etc that the full word is used (i.e SI = Self Injury, ED = Eating Disorder, etc.) because some people don't understand the abbreviations, especially new members. Also with the suggestions for EDS, as even I took two minutes to work out what they meant. Thoughts?

i think that's a good idea, for other reasons too (i think using abbreviations makes it slightly easier for people not to fully face what they're actually doing to themselves). like i hate the abbreviation "sui".

I feel like using the fulls words would make it too bulky, and people will be less able to see what they are at a glance, it's nto a huge problem but it's my only concern. Would a sticky in each forum explaining the abbreviations be too much to ask? You also see a few threads in F&CQ of people asking what they mean, it would get rid of that. but again, I get why another sticky would be annoying.

this is a very good list i think.
although personally i would rather "art" / "poem" / "prose" / etc in creative only because it is sometimes difficult. although that is for labelling/convenience & nothing to do with it being triggering, obviously.
i dont think verbal should be in a&b but that is very minor.
i support this list.

take what you love
burn it down.
