Antibiotics
I have been prescribed antibiotics for the 8th time in 8 months. This time I have decided not to take them as I think it will be OK and suspect the GP of just playing it safe. I am concerned that my body may become used to having lots of antibiotics and they will stop being effective is this so.
The wound itself is read sore and weepy at the stitch holes but then the stitches were only put in on Monday and Wednesday so this is probably normal is it not?
What would be the advise from here??
Thanks

You'll be surprised to know how far you can go from the point where you thought it was the end.

I think the doctor knows your history and would not prescribe the antibiotics unless you need them. Doctors are much more aware than they used to be about antibiotic resistance.

My husband is my best friend.
In forgiving others, we are not exonerating them. They may not deserve exoneration. Rather, in forgiving others we are giving up our anger over the fact that what happened is not what "should" have happened or that our life is not the way it "should" have been.

You should really take the antibiotics. If you didn't need them you wouldn't be prescribed them and they know what they are doing when they prescribe them. By not taking them you might actually cause more problems if a small semi-resistant colony has set up already. Also, doctors often prescribe different anti-biotics every now and again if you need them a lot ofor the same thing to reduce the chances of resistance. I advise that you do take them and make sure that you keep all your wounds clean, dress them properly and make sure whatever you cut yourself with is very clean. Also that you get wounds seen to ASAP after you do them if needed as these will reduce the chances of infection which would be much better for you then just refusing to take anti-biotics when you have an infection which can cause problems such as septicaemia setting in in the long-run.
