Hair dyingggg advice please :)

Right I bought this sem-perminent red hair dye like ages ago and keep forgetting to use it...Buttt I've decided tonight I shall use it :) Errr however I've had highlights put in since I bought it. Right my high lights are really really subtle and are basically just a slightly lighter brown than my hair already is.

Do you reckon it will all go terribly wrong?

Thoughts? Should I risk it or not?

just because you've forgotten doesn't mean you're forgiven

It should, depending on the dye, just come out a little bit brighter where your hair is lighter. 'Cause where I've bleached my hair unevenly, the colour comes out brighter on the lighter bits.
I'd say go for it. It's not permenant, so even if you don't like it it'll wash out.

ee, I've dyed my hair semi-permanent red before. Sounds good, go for it! Good luck!

Should be ok, just lighter on the highlights. I've got naturally brown hair with light brown and blonde-ish natural highlights, and I use auburn/mahogany colour, both permanent [which isn't, actually] and semi-permanent.

it might stain the lighter bits, most brightly coloured dyes require pre-bleaching, so it might just be a subtle shade. try a test patch underneath and see if you like it first. mand x

It'll be lighter alright, but the shade changes will be almost unnoticable. Go for it. Red is awesome :)

It should be sweet. I think it's usually just people with blonde hair who have big troubles with hair dye. If you've got too dark brown hair don't expect a MASSIVE change.

It's semi-permenant. If it don't work, it'll wash out in under 10 washes.

GO FOR IT.

I had blonde highlights/bits and I put a semi permanent red on and it was fine, but it was a gingery colour after a few washes and it didn't all turn back to it's previous colour. But should be fine on you, seeing as your highlights are just a few shades lighter.

if oyu dont like it, use head and shoulders to strip the colour off and then go back to normal shampoo coz head and shoulders is really bad for your hair.

It will come out a slightly diff colour on your highlights.
The bits on the highlights will also probably last longer.

If its semi, i assume it comes ready made in a tub, in which case do a little strand test somewhere that cant be noticed.

If it does not come out, the best thing to strip semi permant is a strong shampoo, like cold tar from a chemist or vosene.
If you want to make the colour last longer, use a mild shampoo (baby shampoo works best) and a special condtioner for locking colour in.

Let us know how you get on.
