Triggering (SI) - when i was younger...
Hey all.
Sorry for posting loads i'm just questioning alot of things atm.
Anyway when i was younger before i classed myself as a self harmer like when i was seven or something. i used cry loads then as i got alder went onto to bash my head against the wall when i got really angry and i didnt know how to control my emotions and then kicked and punced walls and stuff and then tried to scratch my face off because i didnt want to be me i think.
Would you class that as self harm coz i've never really thought about it like this before but i know it gradually got worse and worse. ooh and i used to try and give myself chinese burns and pinch myself. god i was some wierd child.
I usually did this when my parents were having an argument. i'd cry for them to stop make them see they were upseting me but they never stopped.

Yep, it definitely counts as SH.

i suppose technically it is but i think then there would be millions of sh-ers, cos i think prob lots of people have punched a wall in frustration or something. the chinese burn/pinching thing is prob def sh-just not as extreme as other forms of sh,
i was quite an angry little thing when younger and would hit things etc but i think thats what kinda started it off cos ive never been able to deal with my emotions.

yeah i guess it just depends on the situation and the person. if they're generally just not good at dealing with emotions and do that sort of thing a lot, i guess that makes it more SH than people that punch a wall once in a while or something.

I think alot of people start out doing things like that when they were little, I know I did. It proubly has to do with the fact that some people cant hold emotions and as you get older it gets harder because little kids tolorate emotion best.

Yeah, technically it probably is.
9 months ago when I saw a psych specifically because of my SH he asked me how long it had been going on so I told him but later on as we were talking about stuff from the past (the little bits I could tell him!) we came to the conclusion I'd been pretty much doing it forever because I used to always hit my leg/dig my nails into myself and things and just never classed it/ thought of it as SH or really even remembered it.

see i have a theory that people are born with a tendancy to SI.....
because I DEF did things to deliberately hurt self when I was younger - unaware that I was harming myself though....
like ripping out hair when I was upset....
jumping off stairs to hurt ankles...
dislocated my jaw once accidently, then after that, because i knew it was loose, i kept deliberately trying to dislocate it again....
thinking about it feels SO ****ed up!!!!
but yeah, i think that what you did counts as SI - because it can really start at any age...

As a little kid you believed in fairytales,
that fantasy of what your life would be: white dress; prince charming who would carry you away to a castle on a hill.
You closed your eyes and had complete and utter faith.
Eventually you grow up. One day you open your eyes and the fairy tale disappears.
But the thing is, it's hard to let go of that fairytale entirely because almost everyone has that smallest bit of hope, of faith,
that one day they will open their eyes and it will come true.

i agree with the tendency to SI thing, i think that a lot of little kids do it because they're working out what hurts, how far they can push themselves etc.
but i would count that as SI.. i think i did a lot of the same

take my hand, & we'll make it i swear.
