Unfortunaltey your labour already sounds more painful and drawn out than mine. Do not eat heavily - you will be sick on the gas and air, drink plenty of water and get a nice cushion to sit on so your bum is on it but your 'front' is hanging off (a rubber ring is really good!).
im still here mand!! still having the pains too. had a bit of an experience today which was a bit scary!
while walking round the shops my bump kept going hard but this is not unusual. on the way back, i got strong pains in my bump but only on the right hand side. i tried to walk it off but it got more and more painful and began to move further down to the ovary area and radiate to my back and down my leg. but it was all still only on the right side. i was 2 mins away from the house but by the time i got there i was struggling to stand. it frightened me as i felt it went on far too long to be a contraction and i couldnt figure out why it was only on one side. i ran a bath and lay in it for a while but the pain was still there when i got out. so i lay on the couch and 7 hours later, the pain has largely subsided. i am now left with a dull ache like period pains and the occassional twinge in my back.
my friend told me it was contractions but i am not convinced as it has largely gone away and i think the pain lasted way too long to be contractions. thinking maybe round ligament pain?
who knows!!! time will tell...and hopefully i will join u in motherhood very very soon!

Congratulations! Ah, she's gorgeous. Doesn't look like a newborn. When Darrell was born he was all puffy. Get ready for the nappies. For the first few weeks it can be about 9 or 10 nappies a day. Does calm down eventually. I'm so happy for both of you. Congratulations!

Shine on, you crazy diamond

raven: that sounds like contractions to me, dont forget in the early stages, contractions can come and go, the usual advice is 4mins apart, lasting 60secs each and like that for at least 30mins. however... my labour went straight to 4mins apart.

chloe was weighed today she has gained 1oz. we just had our first nasty poop experience where the leg cuff wasn't on quite straight and some leaked out. luckily we got her changed within a minute of the leak occuring so not much damage done. she's lay here on the desk, against my chest, quite content. all jaundice gone.

awww im glad she is doing well. the poo incident doesnt sound like much fun...i hear that people often get caught out a few times with their first babies and nappy disasters!
dont know what it was mand, possibly was contractions but they have gone now. i dont think this baby wants to come out.

contractions can come and go hun. sometimes you have a few warming up contractions and then labour doesn't start for days, weeks etc. just be sure to get checked... you may be dialating and then have a very fast delivery.

the poop incident... poor love has a bad tummy, possibly from getting so worked up (she didn't like being weighed at all!)

we're getting on fine, infacol is brilliant stuff. 1 dropper full in her mouth before each feed... helps them to burp. she gets colic for about 3hrs anytime between midnight and 5am (would have to be the night!) and my mum often takes her for a few hours or from 5am until we wake up. i feel like im cheating, am absolutley exhausted though. The whole recovery bit is a lot of hard work. i'm still bleeding lots and with breast feeding too and having to drink loads.

my midwife says im doing too much... but i feel like i am hardly doing anything! well am gonna get off now... sleep calls.
