If this thread is still about hedgehogs (old English, hedgepigs) you may like to know that a few years ago some brainless idiots let some loose in South Uist in the Western Isles of Scotland.

They multiplied and spread north throughout Benbecula and North Uist. But there are no trees in the Uists and consequently all the birds are ground nesting - and hedgehogs eat birds eggs.

The damage being done to the local bird population was such that some conservation authority decided that the hedgehogs should be trapped and released on the mainland. Some hope in miles and miles of hill and heather but, if ever I catch one on our island, I'll happily post it to whoever would like it as a pet - provided I can work out how to stick the stamps on ...

Tony.

Never surrender.

I saw a documentary on that ages ago. It was amazing :P

Basically hedgehogs (hegdepigs sounds cooler though and thats what i'll call them from now on :D) But they were worse than the problem with grey squirrel invasion. If i remember correctly, at one point they almost wiped out that species of bird (on that island at least)!!!

Grey squirrels are eviiiiil although May and her bow (the couple in our garden) are a pair of old romantics.

I want to meet Squirrel Nutkin but I've never even met a red squirrel.

One thing i've always wanted to do is take a picture of a red squirrel. It'd probably mean a trip to an island where grey squirrels can't travel. And it'd have to wait until i was older :P

back to topic. So, hedgepigs....

And its so pretty, that sounds so silly but its true, the graphics are great.
There is so many ways you can play it too, as far as controllers go.

We used to have a hedgehog when I was living with my mum
Obviously we didn't keep it in the house but it used to come into our garden every night and we'd find it there in the morning so we kind of adopted it as ours
We called him Spikey and he used to come and visit us for ages until he got run over
:(
And we were really sad about it lol

Sorry for my pointless story

A man I knew once got back home late one dark winter's night and before going inside noticed a hedgehog curled up on the ground near his back door. Because it was so cold and because hedgehogs are supposed to hibernate in winter he brought out a saucer of bread and milk and carefully put it on the ground next to the little animal.

The following morning he found the saucer completely untouched. It was next to a loo-brush that had fallen off a windowsill adjacent to his back door!

Tony (sentiment will get you nowhere).

Never surrender.

Hedgehogs shouldn't be given bread and milk I didn't think.

Do not give them bread and milk. the hedgehog will eat it, they cant digest the bread and cows milk gives hedgehogs bad diarrhoea
Best thing to give them is cat or dog food
the wet stuff is best and chicken is even better but not fish makes them ill

but if you are going to put food out for them you need to keep on doing it everynight or they will end up going hungry because they will become dependent on you for food

xx

You're entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret. All the best people are.

LOL, i swear you make these up Harley's Dad :P

And you can give hedgepigs milk and bread in consideration. And what'd be lethal would be to feed bread and bicarbonate of soda to seagulls (how i hate them!!!) :D

It's WILDLIFE for f*cks sake. Leave it alone.
All animals were at one point wild animals, whats the difference between having a cat and having a hedgehog. cats weren't born to be pets, just like hedgehogs weren't.

>_>

I don't think thats a very valid point, the cats and dogs we have as pets now have been bred as domestic pets over hundreds of years, hedgehogs are wild animals...there's a bit of a difference.

it could be argued that its cruel to create a situation where a creature becomes domesticated. We were wild once, but became worse off when we decided to be civilised; creating, world wars, and famine. Thus, we bring other creatures into our world of self inflicted suffering.

Hence me blaming society or government for everything :P

Despite this view, i wouldn't give Poppy (in my avatar) up for anything. She's my clostest companion and the best freindship i've ever had. Surely we're able to do as much good as we've already done harm??? Shouldn't we do what we can to correct what we have caused? Animals can help us and we can help them!!!
