Do it :) Its something that society is more used to now-a-days and if its part of your life then go with it. You never know, it might help someone else do it too.

I wish I could be a smart ass but I either can't do it with a straight face, or I get kinda weird and walk away...ergh.

That is what my friend told me once when I asked her about her first cut that i saw. Except it was "I was hunting the runaway teapot. It was evil I tell you!"

people are more likely to believe a big lie told with a little bit of truth then a total lie. I say if your ready, you should. Personally I don't wear anything less than a 3/4 sleeve. I do gymnastics, but my coach knows about everything so he's okay with it (with the chlothing, not the scars under them)

I usually wear short sleeves to school. My experience is different, as some people do ask about my scars, but all I can tell you is to be honest with them if you're comfortable telling them why, if not you can just straight up tell them you don't want to talk about it. Who knows, maybe they wont ask. I'm really happy for you considering this though, because it is a very big step, and it shows quite a bit of confidence. Hoping all goes well! *hugs*

I used to be like that. Now, since I've moved out I've felt more able to show my scars. I guess to me it's not important what other people think. The people I care about (and who care about me) would never judge and anything they say is out of concern, in the same way that they would be concerned for everyone.

What you've got to do is show your scars when you're ready. It's a massive step and a great way of showing that you are strong and that you're not going to let SI beat you. Don't worry about other people. It's really none of their business. If you're Ok with it, why shouldn't they be?

I hope it all goes well for you
