experience prozac/fluoxetine

hello,
I've been given prozac to take, glad in a way cus its been months since i seeked helped and only felt a little better . I start the prozac tomorrow.
I've heard people say about negative side affects and feeling worse.
Anyone got any experiences? good or bad?

it did nothing for me at all, it was so lame i actually in a rather paranoid state accused my dr of giving me placebo pills.

didnt make me feel better or worse, it was like i wasnt even taking them

Only been on it for just over 2 weeks now, but I've had some of the side effects. Weird dreams and restlessness. But that's the worst of it really.
In the last four days I got nausea and felt really ill, but we're not sure if that's the Fluoxetine or just a bug.

And yes, the liquid version tastes wrong! I was on it for a week. It's kinda minty and nice...and then count to five and it tastes like a whole load of elderly cats just vomited in your mouth.

for me this drug was a real nightmare, obviuosly everybody is different, and i was taking alot of other drugs aswell, made me si loads and i became very suicidal. not sure of your history or condition but my advice to any1 on meds is take them as prescribed, dont mix them with anything you shouldnt alcohol/ illegal drugs, any strange effects report them asap to your doc or psych, and dont stop taking them suddenly..


also i had problems fitting my testicles in my trousers after taking them.

for me i didnt get any side affects but it didnt work for me at all.

For me, it made me suicidal, impulsive, anxious and gave me really bad insomnia. It also killed my appetite and I lost a stone in 3 weeks.
However my Dad has been on it for a couple of years now and it has really helped him.
It's good to hear peoples stories of drugs, however remember everyone is different and you just have to find what works for you.

Heya,
I've been on Fluoxetine (or prozac) for 5 years now and I've found it to be very beneficial but as Incandescense has said don't go expecting immediate miraculous results! It does take time! It can take them a bit of time to get the doseage correct as well because everyone is different! Also although it should help your symptoms (putting it bluntly make you feel better) it won't solve any underlying issues but should make it easier to be able to start tackling them!

Don't agree with Incandecense about taste of Liquid Form though! I think that it has a very pleasant taste and prefer it to the tablets because I found the tablets could irritate my stomach and even make me sick!

P.S. Punkyfairy if you're on the tablets and they're making you feel nauseous then may be an idea to talk to your Doctor about going onto the liquid form! I found that it solved the problem for me in any case!

for about a year, it really helped me. it took a while, but once it took effect it did make me stronger and more able to cope. then i started to feel worse again, and they upped the dose, and then it had quite a negative effect and then i was weaned off it. i think it can help some people, you just need to give it a chance and allow doctors etc to moniter the dosage closely.

It helped for a while, but then it just stopped working on me. It also made me gain about 30 pounds.

p.s i have got the liquid form and it does taste disgusting so i was told to squirt it into orange juice and drink quickly but it makes the orange juice taste bad too =D

i'm about to go on prozac too...
jeez. my dad has spent the last couple of days teling me how terrible meds are and all the bad things he can find out about it...
but it doesnt matter. i want to give it a go so then i can attempt to fix up the cause without having the crappy symptoms :]

The liquid form should have a minty sweet taste, but hey each to their own! I've had some vile tasting meds in my time but certainly wouldn't consider liquid prozac/fluoxetine as one but hey!

I was on prozac for 1 year and a half, it didnt nothing except make me numb which i couldnt stand. Different drugs work for different people so just stick at it but remember it might take up to 6 weeks for u meds to properly work. Good luck.
