to hide, or not to hide?
Most, not all, of the people at work who would make my life miserable if they knew about my SI, are gone. The people that aren't I don't really talk to. Should I continue to hide this? We are going into Spring and I live in Texas. It gets hot, long sleeves are hard. What would I say about my scars? I'm not that good of a liar but I almost don't care what people say...

If you don't care what people say tell the truth. Or you could make up a funny lie, like a hedgehog did it.

I had unprotected sex with a porcupine. I used that on 2 nosy old ladies.
Only you can really make the decision whether to wear short sleeves or not. You have to go with whatever you feel comfortable with.

I really don't know what I'm going to do. If I wear short sleeves, my boss might think I'm trying to start something. That's my only concern. But I really don't think it's anyone's business and if I'm ok with showing my arms I should be "allowed to" without anyone bothering me. But people will talk I suppose.

Does your boss know about your scars?
You might say you were attacked by a cactus in the middle of the night.

My husband is my best friend.
In forgiving others, we are not exonerating them. They may not deserve exoneration. Rather, in forgiving others we are giving up our anger over the fact that what happened is not what "should" have happened or that our life is not the way it "should" have been.

My boss's boss knows, my direct boss doesn't...or if she does, she never said anything.

Hun, the way I see it is they're your arms, your scars. Its nobodies business. You shouldn't have to make excuses, you shouldn't have to lie and you damn well don't have to put up with **** that other people give you. If your wearing short sleeves starts something than just contact the better business bureau. :)
Take care and STAY SAFE!

I'm kinda with you, it's no one's business etc. But there is so much gossip in our office I don't want to contribute. Ack, maybe it is time to ask the boss if she would understand if I wore short sleeves. She's already said if she hears anyone talking about it or anyone comes to her she will handle it.

Maybe if you want to test the waters you could start with 3/4 sleeves? And some concealer (cover-up?) but don't put it on thick. Just so big scars or whatever aren't as noticeable and see how that goes.
I think you might be surprised at how few people will notice. You notice them heaps while you have short sleeves cause you know they're there, and you get paranoid about people seeing them. We all do.
*hugs* Hope everything turns out okay.

It was 80 freaking degrees today and I wore short sleeves. No one said anything but I thought people might be looking. It was probably me just being paranoid.

well done for being confident to go with short sleeves.
TBH i find that people are frequently so wrapped up in wondering whether everyone will notice their own bad hair day/spots/love handles that they tend to miss other people's flaws... xx

Just tell them that you were doing LSD and you tripped that there were insects crawling under your skin and you just HAD to get them out... ;)
Well done though. The first time's always the hardest, so it can only get easier from here on.
