swimming and scars
I've been self harm free for about a month now, and am doing well, my friends asked me if i wanted to start swimming, i jumped at the offer then while shopping for a new swim suit realised about the quite horrendous scars on my thigh. anyone have any ideas on a good but not obvious cover up? I'm quite ready to reveal them yet. any advice would be appreciated !

I recently went on holiday and had a new very noticable burn on my arm
I used waterproof plasters when I had to go swimming....but I suppose it depends on how many and how bad

can you get swim shorts or somethin? if the scars are high on your legs you can get bikini short things or if they're further down you could get some baggier ones.
good luck and have fun!

No, you can get ones for girls too.
Get a cute Bikini top to go with them and you're good to go.

this may sound weird, but I bought a pair of guys swim trunks once because they were cute. They had pretty purple swirls and stuff and didn't look manly at all...I wore them with a bikini top and was good to go. or you can always find some girls surf shorts...it's just that where I'm from those are pretty nonexistent.

RASH VEST, RASH VEST, RASH VEST!!!
Seriously..... I've just come back from Australia & I was getting really depressed I couldnt go to the beach/pool & swim... I have scars covering my legs & arms so I bought a long sleeve top to go under a wet suit (rash vest) & I wore my swimming shorts & I was sorted :)
It may sound stoopid but it looks pretty professional.
Mines Rip curl but you can probs get one from most surfers shops - quicksilver/roxy/billabong etc

Also, if it helps at all, I heard chlorine is good for fading scars, so if you can either find a way to cover up or just forget what people may think, it's apparantly a way of helping. I'm sure I read that somehwere like, professional so I'm not just garbling :)

i used large waterproof plasters to begin with on my legs when i went swimming on hols but then i ran out. But for the vast majoirty of the time you will be in the water so they wont really be on show that much. i was really scared first time i showed off my scars swimming but everyone is there doing there own thing so it might not be as bad as you think.
hope you have fun!

I hope wearing guys swimming shorts isn't weird, coz I wear them... the only time I go swimming is when I'm on youth camp, and since there's guys there and I'm paranoid about it, I wear a tankini, with a rash vest over the top, and long swimming shorts. Covers me up quite nicely.

Too many slip ups.
