Triggering (SI) - Psoriasis and SI

Okay so I am one of the unluckypeople who sufferes with a moderate case of Psoriasis.

For those who dont know its basically a condition which causes a patch of your skin to grown at an increased rate causeing flaking and other nasty things, a little bit like dandruff.

Mine is alot like dandruff because its just behind my ear into my hair line, so im lucky because it can appear on the arms, legs etc.


But what i was wondering is if anyone else feels that it is connceted to their SH, because sometimes it can get so aggravatingly itchy that the most relaxinthing to do it to pull bits of it off.

At worst this can resulf in pices of skin up to a cenitmeter in diameter although this is rare.

But i wondered if anyone else would class it as a form of SH, that you can do that, and keep going until you look int the mirro rand its painful and bleeding.

Or even if anyone else has this problem

I have this problem! This is going to sound disgusting but the amount of skin that a person with no psoriasis sheds in a month, psoriasis sufferers will usually shed it in only 3 days! I think that it can be related to SI as both are related to stress... When I get stressed, my psoriasis gets worse and stress causes my SI to worsen... Bleeding patches sting so much in the shower and Im always so self concious bout it! Did you go to the doctor bout this? Have you tried Cocois compound or Polytar shampoo? Well I suppose it could be considered as SI because you are deliberately doin harm to yourself and the marks, scabs and raw lesions last well over an hour (days actually)... Ive never really thought bout that before... I always pick at it (mmm...) when I get stressed and it does hurt... Mine is pretty bad all the time and the SIing, psoriasis and stress all contribute to each other and it gets worse.(does that make sense??) Dont really know if this has been any help but feel free to PM me anytime anyway!

Hmmm its interesting isnt it?

I have tried Polytar, but to be honest all it seems to do now is make my hair smell funny. like ive got immune to it or somthing. I did use dovones cream for a while but its a blindr to get out of your hair.

I know what you mean cause mine gets worse during stress and i tend to poke at it when im stressed.

Its good to know im not the only one i guess.

hey,i have the same problem i used to have it everywhere even on my eyelids,i hated it and when your stressed its unbearable i used eurex and cut down on dairy products and it worked i only have a small patch at the nape of my neck which is ok it does get annoying when im stressed coz it itchs so much.but if you do use eurex be careful as it thins the skin!oh and tgel shampoo is good i use that aswell!but yes i agree i think it is a form selfharm same as picking spots etc you do it 2 harm yourself!hope that has helped you!take care xxx
