My lifelong method doesn't do what it used to

TW: self harm, mentions bleeding (or attempts to), tools tried to describe in vague/softer language

I started SH and it's been on and off for sixteen years. After becoming an adult, I learned to use tools built for cutting (rather than creative workarounds as a young teen). It's helped me with harm reduction,, keeping things clean. etc. but also with switching every now and then. In the past, I switched whenever the current one stopped injuring the skin anymore, and the new thing would usually work better and I'd learn to start gently and not go too deep. But now none of those work. Not even new ones. Not even if I use a little more pressure or angle. And it's starting to freak me out, and I don't know who to ask. Why does this happen (or does it, for anyone else)? Is my skie
b truly getting sensitived so fast?

So many people are looking to me to be strong and to fight, but I'm just surviving.
The mirror can lie...doesn't show you what's inside. It's amazing what you can hide, just by putting on a smile.

Please feel free to PM me if you need to talk... I'll always listen.

if you're repeatedly cutting over the same place, then you're likely trying to cut scar tissue. so yes it would make sense that tools wouldn't work as well because scar tissue is tougher than regular skin.

Please do not give me virtual hugs unless you are only using the hug function on threads. Thanks.

You can't always keep it separate.
This is happening, this is part of you.
