City break and food issues *trigger warning*

Hi everyone,

I'm pretty desperate so I was wondering if anyone could give me any help! I'm due to fly to New York next week for a 4 day break but I am worried about where I can get food that feels safe to eat. I have tried to do as much reaserch however but I'm not getting very far. I was going to bring things to eat from home but I'm unsure weather it would be allowed through customs.

I'm staying in a hotel in midtown manhattan. If anyone has been or knows of places/ things that I could either take with me or go I would be so very grateful.

Thanks so much

New York has an abundance of healthy food. You don't need to worry at all. There's these delis all over the place where you serve yourself and pay by the weight of the food and there is heaps of variety ranging from really healthy to really unhealthy so you can choose exactly what you eat and how much. New York is exciting, there's lots of safe food available and you tend to walk a lot there so try not to worry about the food situation and enjoy!

Thanks for the reply!

I was really stressing out about the trip as I've never been before. I am looking forward to walking everyone and feel a little bit better about the food situation now I know that there are lots of options and places to eat.

Thanks so so much Juniper

Thanks Jill,

I called my ED team today as the whole issue of food is dominating my mind. I saw my psychotherapist and she is now aware of how I feel. It difficult to keep focused on recovery when I feel like I do right now but she will see me before I fly so maybe that might help. Thanks once again

Steph

I'm not sure where in NY you're going to be, but places like Whole Foods and other grocery stores in Manhattan have lots of healthy options and a dining area. I found this a much easier way to eat when I visited. Whole Foods specifically has a lot of really good options that made the decision of where to eat much less stressful.
