Scared parents will find out A&E visit

Hello dear all. I am a 20 year old gay man from London and I have recently been out in a club during which I believe my drink was possibly spiked. I had some but not complete recollection of having sex with somebody. Therefore, I went to the A&E to get what's called a Post Exposure Prophalxysis which basically taken soon after possible exposure to HIV prevents it from entering your system when taken for 28 days. I have told the A&E the details, was given the medication and sent home after being told to see a GUM clinic for further tests which I did and am planing to attend. However I know the A&E informed the GP of my treatment and as I live with my parents I'm concerned that they'll send a letter home for some reason... How likely is this ? The hospital gave me an option to talk to a counsellor by phoning me however I declined it. Will this information remain confidential and now likely is the A&E to send a letter home?

I've been to a and e on several occasions and have never received a letter from them. I have had other appointment letters through so it may be worth specifying to the GUM clinic you don't want any post coming through.

How are you otherwise?

I too have never received a letter from A&E either.

I did occasionally get letters when I was living at home when I was getting referred to different services but the letters were sent too me and there was no outward sign as to who they had come from. I did request that my preferred method of contact was by phone so the letters sent were kept to the minimum.

Everything should be kept completely confidential.

We are here if you need someone to talk to.

Hi there,

I have never received a letter from A&E either, and I've been far too many times to count.

Would you parents open your post anyway?

Hey, they will NOT post anything to your house, but they may have given you a discharge letter in hand. They are not allowed to send any post to you which contains confidential information so don't worry! :)
They do send things like referrals in the post if you say that you don't mind postal contact
If you have any more questions feel free to PM me!
