When I hear of degus the first 2 things that come to mind is 1; chasing after the things when they kept escaping when I was at work exp somewhere (it was an almost daily occurrence) and 2; don't lift them by their tails, they'll Slough them.
They're actually more like over enlarged gerbils than a squirrel- chinchilla hybrid too!

They're settling in nicely. Timber is more outgoing than Oakleyand jumps on my hand and runs up my arm when I open the cage. Oakley is getting there though. She's starting to AIT on my hand now :)

Suddenly burn so pale?
Yeah, I think it may have been more to do with students at the college not shutting the cages properly rather than them being any better at escaping, they were just faster than most and I think maybe their enclosure didn't close as well.
