Serialangel - ugh. Sorry to hear CMHT is like that. I'm in a similar situation ( queer/pan, partner is/looks male, though we.re both genderqueer) , so I can really relate... And sorry about your psych as well...x
Thank you guys x it was great, we had a blast. I organised a surprise party for her and she was so happy ! And I was so happy it all worked out and hehe[ I made cake]
Hey, I'm new to this thread. I was only diagnosed with BPD a couple of months ago, on top of having bipolar disorder.
I've got a psych, but because my CMHT are so oversubscribed I only get an appointment with her every two months. I'm supposed to have a CPN, but he went on extended leave and instead of reallocating his caseload they just dropped all of us. So I have nothing in place right now and it's really difficult. What really gets me is five-six years ago I was able to see a psych every two weeks :(
i'd only come here seeking peace i'd only come here seeking me it seems i came to leave
Welcome Synthetisk :) I remember your username(not sure from where though; are you on the picture board often, if I may ask? )
How are you feeling about your diagnosis? I also have both BPD and bipolar disorder (or at least I think so because I'm getting reassessed ).
I'm sorry to hear you're not getting much support atm:( that sounds difficult x You said you got diagnosed a couple months ago, and that you see your psych only every two months. Does that mean you've got an appointment coming up/have just had one ? X
We.re a friendly bunch and we love to help or just listen, so don't hesitate to talk to us :) I hope, even though it doesn't equal professional support, the thread will at least be of some help x

Mason, hey. I've been struggling with insomnia on/off for about 6 years now. My advice: I know its difficult but try not to overthink before going to sleep;many times thinking about stressful things while we.re trying to sleep can keep us up or disturb our sleep. Try to find a safe thought, something nice you can think of while trying to fall asleep(e.g. if you like going to the sea side, think of the beach and waves, as the rhythmic movement and sound of the sea can be relaxing). Other useful things you can try: calming tea - chamomile, passiflora, Melissa officinalis(lemon balm), valerian etc. Any of these really. They are all mild herbal sedatives, widely used to combat insomnia and anxiety. You can find them separately or combined in tea - just ask at any drug store/herbal remedy store(sure you can also get them online if need be). Something else that can help is Melatonin or 'the.sleep hormone'. It is a naturally occuring hormone that regulates your sleep-wake cycle. If your sleeping cycle is disturbed, taking melatonin supplements can help.
ETA: other things that can potentially help, though it depends on the person. Have worked for me in the past. Music. My alarm clock app on my iPod has a ' sleep tunes ' option where you can choose a bunch of songs from iTunes and set up for how long they play. Choosing relaxing/slow songs can really help. Some people find lyrics distracting, though so maybe instrumental music would work best. Also, there are 'relaxing sounds ' videos on YouTube, with sounds of the sea, or rain or similar stuff that people find calming.
Hope this helps x
Thanks Witchy and Doikers, I'm still mad about CMHT, I can't help but think about all the ways they aren't helping me. I told them I was going to go on mood stablisers and they had nothing to say to me.
Hoping to be on quetiapine soon, if only to help me sleep etc. My GP has said that it won't impact my diabetes, although there's all sorts online. I'm so not ready to be leaving my pysch, it makes me feel unsafe. Bloody NHS. /moan
Mason - I suffer from poor sleep. I haven't resolved it, but I found that doing regular things at the same time each night helps calm me down. I like to use relaxation videos on youtube that do a guided relaxation or role plays or playing audiostories which is nice.
Hi Synthetisk, welcome to our nice thread *waves*
Witchy - congrats on organising the party, I must have missed you writing about it :)

*hugs Serialangel* sorry to hear thongs ate so stressful right now with your mh team :( I don't have many words of advice..:( just know that we.re here to listen x
Awh, thanks :) it was really nice tbh. Had a lot of fun :)
I'm really stressed. Have to contact the CMHT for assessment, as I have yet to. Might be pregnant. That would be bad. Have so much work to do. Writing another article + essay for transferring. I also have to move out next week. :/ on top of everything, tomorrow is 8 months since mom.died (I know I mentioned this before sorry) . And Saturday two years since her cancer diagnosis. I can't really deal with things right now. :(
*hugs to Witchy* sorry to hear you're going through a hard time right now. Do you have friends who can help with the moving, just to get a bit of pressure off you? It might be worth just trying to do things one thing at a time, so it doesn't feel like everything is happening all at once. The thread and all of us are here if you need a safer space to land xx

I was diagnosed with BPD back in 2011, but it's been in my life since I was a kid. Have to say I was delighted to see a thread on this, I don't normally see a lot of this disorder talked about even on support site. Nice idea :)
