This might sound a bit pathetic and stuff and inconsequential but I have been with my bf for 7 years and he recently proposed but says we can't get married until I finish Post Grad at uni and get a job.

Sounds reasonable perhaps but it starts to grate a bit when I discover that even if we had the money now he wouldn't do it because he wants financial security. hmm

In some ways I can see his point, in his head he probably has this 'perfect' image of how he'd like things to be before you get married.......
i.e: both working, nice place together, not needing to worry. Which is nice because he wants things to be 'right' for you both before you make the leap.

As long as everything between you two is okay and you don't think he has any doubts, then try not to dwell on it, and see it as him just wanting you both to be happy and secure in the future :) x

I've actually had a similar conversation with my boyfriend, but he has yet to propose, so we aren't engaged yet. I was actually the one to say I'm fine with getting engaged before I finish college, but I wouldn't allow myself to get married fully until I graduated college and started trying to create a music career for myself. I don't think all of my reasons are the same as your boyfriend's, but I'll tell you my reasoning as at least one may be similar:

1. I'm using this as a sort of reward for myself cause my ultimate dream is getting married to someone I truly love. Why a reward for myself? I'm currently struggling with my performance in school as well as suicidal thoughts. If I can work hard and stay safe until I graduate college, I'll reward myself with my ultimate dream.

2. I have a irrational thinking that if I'm married while still in school that I will either A) be too distracted with my love to do school work or B) be so stressed out by trying to complete my duties as a wife and a student that I may snap. This is more precationary to make sure everything is successful.

3. School funding and wedding funding are quite high most times, so having to pay BOTH at the same time may just have me and my love feeding through Dumpsters. Yuck. x.x

I have other reasons that I'm finding it very difficult to put into words, but these three are my main reasons really.
