I've been on it quite a few times. For me I found it to be a very good stabiliser over short periods of time (20mg). Long term I can't say, as I never took it for more than 3 months at a time.

Hello,

Citalopram is a very common drug to be started on. Personally I didn't gel with the drug as it caused so much drowsiness I was sleeping 14+ hours per day. However, my mum is on citalopram and it's working great for her. It really will depend on how your body reacts. Good luck finding the right drug for you.

Citalopram has helped me. It has taken the edge off of my depression for the most part. I'm not 100% but I'm better than I was without it.

I took citalopram for about two years. It helped to take the edge off my low mood but due to the sexual side effects (complete loss of libido) I stopped taking it. Coming off it was not fun- withdrawal effects for about a month!

I've been on it for a couple of years and as said above it helps to take the edge off. I only got side effects when I first started taking it of tiredness and dry mouth, but they both resolved for me after about a month. I don't notice any side effects at all now.

Glad I cam across this post as I've been prescribed it for my Anxiety and like seeing others views on it do you tend to notice an affect fearly quickly even if it is minimal?
