I am currently:
Eating Disorder - Question about laxatives - NOT ED related

I have constipation a lot of the time and nearly always feel full and uncomfortable. I usually take one laxative at night every night just to help. Occasionally if I'm really uncomfortable and not been for a few days I'll take 2 - they're quite strong - which helps.

Last night I took 3 cos I'd been in pain for 2 days, and one more this morning. All this afternoon and evening I've been going to the loo, not diarrhoea just very loose and quite a bit. I've not been for a while now, and think that's it.

Just want to know - do I take one tonight as I normally do? Or do I assume I wont need one cos of today? I've eaten quite a bit this evening and don't want to blocked up tomorrow, but also don't want to have another day on the loo.

Thank you

Gemx x

I feel like we cannot give you advice on how to dose your medication as we are not doctors. As a general rule you need to stick with what it says on the leaflet that comes with the medication. It would also be against the rules if I told you to take a certain dose:

4. Do not diagnose people based on your prior experience, or prescribe them a certain type or dose of medication to take.

If you rely on laxatives so heavily you really need to see a doctor about things.

You shouldn't need to take them everyday as it is unless you've been told by a doctor to. If you have gone to the toilet fine today though I don't see why you'd need to. Laxatives should only be used (unless prescribed otherwise by a doctor) if you're constipated and not just for regular use 'just in case' which is what it sounds like you're doing.
