what's this craze with loom bands?

I learnt how to do them today, I'm pretty chuffed with myself! Great distraction.

Didn't know you could make stuff other than bracelets with them, how exciting!

At the school where I teach they were banned within a few weeks of them appearing, so I haven't seen many since mid-June! Even some of the naughtiest boys in our school (12 and 13 year olds who wouldn't normally be interested in anything 'girly') were really keen on making bracelets out of them. Though less amusing when one of them was doing so in my maths lesson

On our sports day for people with disabilities that I am secretary of, we are having a demonstration of how to do it. So I will go to that hopefully because I am on the signing in desk all day and wont have time to do everything.

The other week we had to work Saturday, which we don't normally do. One of my colleagues had to bring her kid into the office. This kid had a loom band kit which she left on my desk while she went off to play outside.
So I was trying to work and this little kit was just calling to me. I couldn't look at my computer screen for more than a few seconds before my eyes were pulled back to the pretty colours. I could actually feel my mental age ticking backwards. I lasted about ten minutes before giving up and unpacking it and making a bracelet.
It was more interesting than work but I don't know that I'd make any more bracelets.

personally i wouldn't mind seeing pics of everything people manage to make with them. i got shown a few days ago how to do them but have forgotten, but my other half has been busy all day teaching my four year old so my house is now full of bracelets, would be nice to see something else. I have noticed something though, the bands themselves smell quite nice!
