Was your gp contacted for either of you? If the gp had to do a report do you think that would that be vague as in saying what your diagnosis is and if your stable or not or would they mention anything in your past like any form of abuse? I will ask my gp that im just not sure when ill be able to see her.
Yeah, the people who assess you are medical professionals. My assessment was quite detailed, but I am a teacher, which means I have lots of responsibilities with children, so I imagine that's why it was quite so rigorous. My GP was contacted for a report, though I think that was only seen by the occupational health doctor. As Sarah said, I had the option of viewing the report before it was sent. It was pretty boring, just assessments and referral letters and stuff.
At the end of the day, it is not a process invented to trip you up, but to check that the job won't adversely affect your health and make sure that reasonable adjustments (such as time off for your appointments) are put in place. I know it's uncomfortable having to share stuff that you'd rather not share, but it's much easier to get it all sorted at the beginning so you can get on with your job, than to lie and get into bother later if you have any difficulties and they find out that you didn't declare your mental health difficulties.
