I do completely understand where you're coming from Beckie, really, but do you not think you're a little bit in denial about how much you've got to deal with? Like others said you can still be under Cmht whilst working and it might prevent the bigger stuff like crisis teams and sectioning. Not trying to have a go, just a thought.

The sh isn't generally done because I want to do it, it is sometimes, but not often. Majority of the time it's following instructions and even if I called up say, the crisis team and told them, there's nothing they can do because it has to be done. So nothing that they can help with.

Chels suggested that I could work for a couple of weeks, see how things are and then consider going under the cmht. I'm just worried that they'll put a stop to things before things have even started.
Not even just that. So many reasons.

I'm fine! Totally fine. I don't know why it's coming out all loud and squeaky, 'cause really, I'm fine!

What about seeing if you could be under them but not have appointments unless you feel you need to and set one? Would something like that be possible? That way if it turns out you're struggling more than you thought, you'd have support readily available. But if you're fine then you don't have to worry about it. I don't know if that would be possible but just a thought.

I think it probably is possible. I'm worried that if they're as concerned as they say they are then will they let me not see them until I need to?
It unsettles me that they are being like they are. It's strange and I don't know what their motives are here or what the 'rules' are.

I really don't know to say because I've been in your situation before and it's hard to decide because you want the help but the help Could hinder you future career.

I'm gonna go against what most people are saying and go for the job. If you need the cmht later after starting there that's fair enough but I think it will really set you back more (mentally) if you loose this job.

Sorry if that's bad advice x

Thanks Kate

I really think it would set me back if I lost this job, I'd be completely devastated. Luckily they didn't say anything too much about it today, although they wrote it down.
I don't want them messing with my life any more.

I can definitely understand that. Do you know how long the waiting list is for mind? Perhaps cmht could ask that you get bumped up and seen there, until you decide if you would like their services or not? I assume something like that can't do anything to deter you from getting a job.

The waiting list is 4-6 months I think. Or 6-8 months. One of those.
I told them that I'd started going to Mind and they were pleased with that at least. I could be referred for counselling at the women's centre or I could self refer but I'd have to pay for sessions then but I could do without the extra expense.

I don't even know what I need counselling for though. Bad shit has happened in the past but I'm over it. What's done is done.
This can't be fixed. I have to sort it. There's nothing wrong with me. I just see the reality.

I don't think your going to agree with me but I agree with the other posters Hun. If you engage and work with the CMHT your less likely to lose your job than if your refusing again now, especially with how concerned they are.

I totally understand that you want the job so badly & I think that's great, but if your mental health does take a turn for the worse, then your going to need support & waiting a long time for it could be detrimental to you & your job.

I think the idea of asking for appointments but only when you need them is actually a really good one. It would show that you ARE willing to engage and work with them, but your still telling them you don't feel you need the support at the moment. And if your mental health does deteriorate then you can reach out before it gets too far, therefore hopefully not effecting your job?

They may also be less concerned with that too? Just something to think about. X

I hope you don't mind me posting here. I've been lurking for a while but haven't posted.

I worked in healthcare for two years, whilst under the CMHT. The psychiatrist had said i wasn't well enough for work but I carried on anyway and I managed fine. The CMHT have little power in stopping you working. It is occupational health that matter, and you have passed that.

I am now a student nurse and despite being sectioned recently, I am due to go back in August to continue my studies.

As when.will.it.end said, it is better to have that support to avoid future problems with your job.

What about accepting help from CMHT with a clear goal in mind, one that isn't necessarily mental health? I know you said you struggle with your finances and managing things like that a lot. What if you went in and said specifically you want help getting a handle on things like paying bills and just maintaining your independence?

Whilst not directly mental health related, I imagine it's something they might be able to help you with.

Just trying to throw different ideas out there.

can't you just humour the cmht and agree to go under them and just go to appts when needed?

I work and I am still under cmht. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

You've all been really reassuring :)

I'm not as dead set against going under the CMHT again now, but still reluctant as they weren't really helping me when I was with them.
But they might be useful to have around because I've only ever worked once and that was a Christmas job in a shop 6 years ago! So I don't know how it's going to affect me.

The CPN called today but I missed the calls, Chels answered the home phone and apparently she wanted to update me on yesterdays meeting (I literally have no idea what that could mean). I'll have to call her on Monday.

It doesn't matter where you come from; it matters where you go.
No-one gets remembered for the things they didn't do.
We won't all be here this time next year,
so while you can take a picture of us.
We're definitely going to hell,
but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

I don't know what they could possibly want to update me about, but she told Chels it could wait til Monday so I shouldn't be worried really!

Today was seriously awesome!!!
Shattered now though and my legs are killing me! All day dancing and jumping around! lol

BUT I got home to a letter from the psych appointment I had which isn't that postive (I lack insight and shit like that) and a professionals meeting will be held within a few weeks. :/
and another letter saying I have an appointment with an occupational health doctor which sucks because they said they would call if there were any issues but I just get this letter and the psych has instructed my GP to tell occ health about stuff and I know that's because he still doesn't want me to work! Which is why I didn't want to let them know!!! GAH!!!
And now I probably have to call them because occ health appt is 2 days after I'm meant to go for the induction day but I don't know if I'm allowed to go if I haven't been cleared!
So a bit of a shit end to the day!
