Is there a possibility that you could take it all at night? I take Zyprexa and also experience a lot of sedation, but find taking it all at night helps. Do you do any exercise? I find that is helps with my energy levels, though sometimes it is the last thing I feel like doing! Coffee is not ideal. You're not alone. It's a pain.

I take zyprexa and it is sedating but I take a bigger dose at night which helps.
have you tried any other meds? Not all are so sedating like abilify for example.

Though I havent been on that particular med, I agree with the suggestion of trying other meds. I am on a different med and I dont have sedation. I did have sedation on both quetiapine and risperidone though.
Also how long have you been on it? If you have been on it for a short while in most cases the sedation wears off a little once your body gets used to it. If it is in the early stages I would persist with it before talking to your doctor about changing meds.

I used to be on zyprexa. It was helpful for me to take it all in the evening as it is sedating, I'm not surprised you feel tired during the day if you take it in the morning too.
I was advised by the crisis team to take it about 6pm and not straight before bed. This is so by the next morning the sedating effect will mostly be gone and you wont feel so tired during the day. You might not be able to take it so early straight away, it's probably better to take it slightly earlier each night as you get used to the different time and so on.

If you've been told to take it twice a day you NEED to carry on taking it TWICE a day until you discuss whether this can be changed with the doctor who prescribed the meds. Changing it can cause problems with you even if other people have done it like that and are fine

Im on Clozapine which is very sedating, at first i would sleep all the time. I now take 300mg at night and just 100mg on the morning which doesn't cause me to need to sleep (mostly) through the day. Also the sedation has got better over time too.
