serious physical illness taking its toll
i dont know what to do..the drs dont seem to either..
for 3 weeks ive had severe stomach and bowel issues and it ended with me being admitted to the ER last night but they still dont know whats wrong..well they know whats wrong but they dont know whats causing it..
basically my stomach has stopped digesting food..any food..it goes into my stomach and straight through to the bowels causing severe nausea 24/7 and multiple bouts of diarrhea after even the smallest amounts of food..im going to a gastroenterologist next week to organise a gastroscopy but i dont know what to do in the meantime..i cant eat and when i do what happens is debilitating..im losing weight fast because my body isnt taking in any nutrition and the drs dont seem to know what to do..im not severe enough that im dying or anything but they all agree that this cant go on for long without severe consequences..i dont know what to do :(

That sounds awful love :( did they suggest at the hospital any way to help you cope? Especially as you'll need to be keeping your nutrients up but not wanting to be going through such pain. I really hope this can get sorted for you so so quickly. If worst came to worst could you be on some sort of drip or something to get food into you without eating?
I really hope things get better soon. Try and hold out hope that they will be able to help you soon and I hope you can be gentle with yourself as best you can xx

If you find liquids easier you could try buying some ensure milkshakes, they're full of nutrients and things and may be gentler on your stomach.
I hope you feel better soon

I went through something similar a few years ago so I understand how frustrated you are. Shenanigans has posted pretty much the advice I was given whilst they tried to establish what was wrong. I hope they can figure it out for you soon so that you are on the mend.

thanks guys..im trying to drink the ensure and such but right now even the ensure is making me sick :( im seeing the gastroenterologist tomorrow and im nervous but hoping it will give some answers..talking to the drs its coming clear that i have a lot of symptoms presenting that are potentially all actually connected where ive been thinking to date that they had nothing to do with each other..
im actually quite scared that its all been caused by a massive OD I took last year..although my symptoms now are quite acute and terrible but taking my history they have actually been there since last year and growing steadily worse until now..it might be unconnected but im so scared..at the time i wouldnt have cared because i wanted to die but im on the path to recovery now and to think that i may have caused permanent damage is devistating..i just want my life to be ok

Hey there,
i have some advice regarding nutrition if you want it,
you say you are drinking ensure drinks but they are making you sick, i wonder if you are drinking the ensure normally? i mean ensure and freusban are meant to be sipped slowly, hence the other name for them: 50sip. when i was going through some trouble with my ED i was sipping ensure everyday and at first i felt sick, but the body gets used to it.
i hope this helps x

I'm so sorry I don't have any advice for you, but I just wanted to leave a note letting you know I'm sending caring thoughts and I hope the gastroenterolgist was able to help. <3 I have just recovered from some terrible stomach issue which also caused me insane nausea and to be unable to eat so I really feel for you.
It probably sounds very silly, but I found something that helped me was distracting myself with a videogame, book or something engaging whilst I was eating. If you are becoming anxious over meals then you may focus more on your stomach and notice any pain/discomfort more obviously, so although this might not help with the actual digestive issues, it may make things a bit less stressful and a bit more manageable at mealtimes.
extra: also I found taking frequent sips of water between spoonfuls to be helpful in settling the stomach. Would doing that with the ensure maybe help?
