How do you deal with your anxiety/panic?

I have pretty constant anxiety and panic attacks, which I am having therapy for, but I wondered for those of you that have experienced it, if you have any tips or advice on managing anxiety and panic?

I sometimes use grounding techniques, distraction sometimes works for me-like concentrating on something I really like (dr who as an example)... counting and concentrating on my breathing x

I know this might not be what you hope to hear, but when I was poorly with the AN I found my anxiety levels were very bad, I was physically anxious and shake-y. I believe it is because I was trying to get my body to function on little more than adrenaline. Since eating properly I am a lot calmer, and not just because I have dealt with the ED anxieties. Although dealing with those has been easier when I am fed, as I notice them creep in when I have slipped.

I know its hard, but I guess I am trying to say, don't underestimate the affect not eating has on anxiety, even strong physical reactions.

I find having something to play with, a bracelet or a ring. I have got little pots [you can get them from superdrug] and I put strong smells in them so I can smell them to distract/self soothe when I am stressed or anxious. Smells that I like are to me quite comforting. And by breathing them in/smelling them you are forced to breathe deeply in through your nose. Bonus!

Never found a magic technique before as i'm only truly anxious when faced with unknown social situations. I’ve found it helps just to talk mundane nonsense until you’re comfortable enough.

There's an app called head space which is great for calming down.

Counting breathing also helps for me and eating and drinking properly of course.

Avoid drugs and alcohol and get plenty of sleep.

Is there a new version available? I tried downloading that app but it wouldn't work because it was old or something?
