Risperidone dosage
What is considered a high dose of risperidone? I am on 6mg a day and it's working but may need increasing but I don't know what maximum dosage is?

When I was on risperidone I started on 0.5mg but it was to help with self harm thoughts and impulsiveness.

I was on everything up to 8mg - which I was told was the maximum dosage for someone under 18 years old, which I was at the time. I believe I was told the adult max dose would have been double that? And I was being treated for psychotic depression.
I don't know if risperidone helps with sleep or not. The BNF lists drowsiness as a side-effect, so it's possible it could help? It's probably something that varies person to person.

The maximum dose of rispiridone is 16mg. I was on 6mg which was pretty medium dose. Very few people take doses above 10mg though.
I'm diagnosed schizo affective and 6mg wasn't enough for me either but the side effects were too bad so I changed meds.

From what I've been told, and experienced, risperdone can definitely be helpful for sleep. Usually, they have you take it at bedtime. I'm on a low dose, and it helps make me drowsy.
