Yet another question about going swimming

This evening I am about to venture on my first trip to a public swimming pool in roughly 10 years or more. Fortunately, I have gotten to the stage where I am about as comfortable with my scars as I will ever be (if people dislike them that's their problem) and I am going with a close friend which helps. I do however opt to go swimming in boardshorts and a rash vest to cover what I can, and was just wondering whether a) this is generally acceptable in public pools and b) if it generates more attention to yourself than your scars would do in the first place!

I feel somewhat silly in posting this as I have been on numerous holidays during the past few years and have worn shorts and a rash vest to go swimming without any problems bar the odd glance. But when your abroad and it's boiling hot you have more of an excuse i.e avoiding sunburn, respecting different cultures in certain coutries etc, so I'm just a bit worried about feeling like a berk wearing them in an indoor swimming pool in Wales! They're not at all frumpy or whatever, they look nice, but, meh. Chances are nobody will even give me a second glance anyway, and once I'm the pool nobody will see my scars & swimming attire, but I'm just feeling a tad anxious, despite looking forward to it - big step in recovery.

Sorry, random thread but any words of wisdom would be much appreciated :)

Thanks guys... I was clearly worrying over nothing as nobody really even seemed to notice let alone care so I felt fine. Had a really good time actually :)

I personally would have no.problem with.someone wearing shorts and t shirts. Anything to gwt people in the water! (i fins it very therapeutic) i normally swim just in a costume and havent had any comments. But because i am quite self.conscious about my body ive just bought a pair of chlorine resistant swimming shorts from sports direct.

I'm really glad.the ecperience went well for you!

Rather then thinking so much I would advice you to go with your choice rather then thinking of others. So just follow what you like.
