Swelling from depot injection
Hey all, just needed a bit of reassurance really.
I had my injection on Wednesday, and last night I noticed a hard lump next to the point it went in, about the size and shape of my first two fingers side by side.
I've never experienced this after years of having these types of medications.
Am I ok?
Thanks x

Hello bear don't panic it's just injections sights can cause lumps and bruising. This happens to my sister when she uses her clexane injections.
Take care bear

Thanks Lotty,
Do you think it's worth letting my cmht know or should I just leave it?
Thanks for the hugs
Lani x

hey Lani,
I used to get this all the time when I used to have injections, I was told not to worry and it was fine :)
It wouldn't hurt to let your CMHT know, just for a bit of extra peace of mind maybe.
take care x

I'm fine! Totally fine. I don't know why it's coming out all loud and squeaky, 'cause really, I'm fine!
Who else is fine?!?!?

Thanks Beckie, it's so weird I've never had it before!
I need to ring my CPN today anyway after "night of the mentals" last night, so I'll mention it to him x

I am on a depot and I get this every time i have it. My cpn says it's very common for this to happen.

I told my cpn and he said to show my GP, so I mentioned it to him today. He said I have a heamatoma (sp? collection of blood) and that if it gets hot and sore I'll need antibiotics.
How strange!

Wow. I didn't even think that could happen!
I suppose you can get that with things like BCG injections though.

I had a haemotoma once. Please go back if it does get worse because I didn't (my cpn was off on her hols). It was one of the worst weeks of my life.

Glad you spoke to your gp about it.
Lumps are common with depots but there is a very small risk of infection so keep an eye on it.
