What Happens Next?

I've recently been referred by my doctor to the wellbeing service, they sent me a letter explaining that i will have to complete a questionnaire, what kind of questionnaire? they said they need it to evaluate the best options for me, they can't diagnose you can they? i'm just quite worried and i'm not sure what any of this involves. Im already worried the doctors throwing all sorts of pills at me and now hes gone and planned and reffered me to stick a label on me to. I'm really confused... ?

I think the questionnaire is to judge what kind of support you would be requiring. They may also be trying to see if this wellbeing course thing is right for you. Generally they can't and won't diagnose you with anything through a questionnaire.

The questionnaire will be there to help them gain some level of understanding over what issues are going on, so they can know how best to help you.

Like the others have said, questionnaires are really just there to indicate what kind of issues you're experiencing and whether particular kinds of support are appropriate.

Common questionnaires may ask you about symptoms relating to certain mental health problems (often depression and anxiety), but it's rare to be diagnosed through a questionnaire alone. Sometimes questionnaires also assess how ready you feel to change the way you currently feel or behave.

Ultimately they're simply there to indicate what sort of treatment would be best, so try not to worry too much! You can always explain your fears about being diagnosed and I'm sure they'll do their best to reassure you.

Thanks for all the information guys, i rang them up but everything that i eventually got through in my letter said that they would arrange a telephone appointment to discuss my options and the answers of my questionnaire, but the receptionist didnt mention anything the letter said was gonna happen and just book me in for an appointment for an assessment with a therapist... Now im even more confused, i feel like maybe theres something im not being told, can they just do whatever?
Dont get me wrong its not like i dont want to know what the problem i have it but i just feel so scared, and now so confused, because now i dont feel i know what im doing , now im left wondering did the receptionist get it wrong ?( but then again as i was reffered they would have my details) or did my doctor not tell me something?
Thanks to you all who have been replying to my thread, its nice to know that i can get some supporting finding out from people who have had all this experience of what everythings like, what do you guys think is going on here? :/
much love to all x

It sounds as though your initial letter was somewhat misleading - however, my guess would be that your questionnaire has been evaluated and (based on the results) it has been recommended you have another appointment/assessment for therapy.

Communication between departments is not always brilliant, and chances are that the person who evaluated the questionnaire just asked the receptionist to book you in for another appointment.

It's natural to be anxious about appointments, but I really think it would be worthwhile to go. To begin with, they will probably just want to talk to you about the results of your questionnaire and ask you a few more things. Having an assessment doesn't mean you have to commit to therapy or anything - it's just a way of knowing what your options are. I know it's frustrating when services don't make things clear, but actually going and speaking to the people who provide the service is probably the best way to get answers.
