Borderline Personality Disorder?
I feel like I may have BPD but I want to get some thoughts and input before going in. It was actually a friend of mine who mentioned that they thought I might have it so I did some research on it. The biggest symptom that stood out to me was displays of inappropriate anger. I get so angry so easily for the stupidest things. Like for example, I just asked a friend of mine if they would call me on their way home to calm me down after a stressful and when they said no I basically went off on them. This happens quite often. When I don't get something I feel like I need I snap. I also have an extremely hard time controlling myself when it comes to acting on impulses. On top of all of this I have issues with self harm which I've read also goes with BPD. Another thing I've read is that the use of Ritalin can cause problems for people with BPD. I've noticed that since I've started taking Ritalin all of these symptoms have gotten uncontrollable. I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts were.

self diagnosing can be dangerous and shouldn't be done, We also in here can't diagnose you with anything. I suggest going to your gp if you are worried about your mental health and talking to them, but try not to focus too much on the thought that you may have BPD and try to focus on sorting out your symptons.

I have to echo what Oliver has said. But also just wanted to add, don't tell them that you think you have BPD

As the others said, talking to your gp and then seeing a psych would be best.
In order to have a diagnosis of BPD you have to meet 5 of the 9 criteria and also they have to have a strong impact on your life. Like for example my displays of anger got me into trouble at school as I snapped in front of a teacher and made a scene and ran away etc.
if you feel you might need help or that you might have something, even if you can't self diagnose, you can talk to a psych, not necessarily telling them what you think you have but you can talk to them quite freely. They will be able to diagnose you so you can get the help you might need.
Good luck x

hey,
like other have said self dianosing can be a dangerous matter...plus when you look into the symptoms you tend to find you can act some out. there is also a horrible stigma of being diagnosed with bpd...often mh services like crisis teams won't have anything to do with you (i came out of an acute ward after an od, was contacted by the crisis team who said due to my diagnosis there was nothing they could do and that was that). alot of healthcare professionals think that people with bpd are manipulative too...
but i'm pretty sure everyone has a little bit of bpd in them
it's not a nice diagnosis to have
