I go in chat now and again but I always feel a bit like an outsider because people are chatting away to their friends anoit stuff I have no idea about, so although I do try joining in etc it can be quite hard work to get much response so I get bored and dont go in again for a while

I dont use chat because I have never made to feel welcome or when I have been in there's nobody there except in serious and I didnt feel like I needed support.

The thing with chat is you have to go in for about a week saying hello to people and people will get to know you and then you become friends and all those people you thought of as strangers then begin to remember you. Its not like the forums where you make a thread and post lots and people remember you that way. I know it can be a bit of a tall order for people but you do have to stick at it and it is worth it!x

There are times to stay put, and what you want will come to you.
But there are times to go out into the world and find such a thing for yourself.

How do you stop being an outsider in all circumstances though? When youre the new kid you dont immediately fit in,people get to know you and so on.x

I understand that. I did try to venture in to chat daily at some point last year, but I think I got all awkward after saying hi and often not getting a response so left in most cirumstances! I might try going back there sometime but I'm not sure. Everyone always seems to be in serious.

What are these chat games people were mentioning? They sound fun, and something I would definitely consider joining :)

Youll find these days the vast majority are in either in room 2/3 or in middle earth :) There is also usually a mod in the room these days who will say hello :) (I am in chat so can say hello :p)

We had chat bingo at one point but when it was organised for a second time there was about 2 people that were interested so we are reticent to try again as it takes up time and man power to both organise and run.

Im not having a go or anything, just explaining how it works so that even if you dont want to come back maybe other people with the same opinion will.

I know youre just giving your opinion but I have to give a response so that other people who havent built up the courage to go in dont get scared off.

Woe, I just noticed that when I try to enter in chat, I get a black box saying "HTTP THROUGH A PROXY SERVER IS NOT ALLOWED".

To my knowledge, I'm not using a proxy server!

Any ideas?

I understand and I'm not having a go either :) just that it is tough to get involved in chat so, etimes

Mind you there are enough times when I feel the same abot the forums sometimes where I feel invisible

I quite like chat actually. I used to never go in, but started going in more last year. I got a lovely welcome and most of the time, someone says hello when I come in :). If no one says anything, it's usually because chat is really fast moving, or people are in the middle of supporting someone. If that happens, I tend to wait untill I get an idea of what the conversation is about, then I join in :)

I don't really find it cliquey. I'm not part of any 'cliques', yet everyone has been really nice to me :)
