I am currently:
TMJ

I have been diagnosed with some form of tmj, my dentist doesn't know the cause yet and i'm having loads of tests to see whats happening.

I'm being sent to a physiotherapist to work on my jaw i didn't even think this was possible, has anyone else had to do that?

I'm just sick of my days though, everythings happened at once, im at the hospital every week for dentist appointments they just spread them out unnecessarily my uni dissertation is due friday, luckily i've worked my arse off and pretty much finished by now, but its not been helped with stupid appointments, i had one on monday just so the main dentist who was supposed to see me the past few appointments could see me, that was it, i got some more blood tests but that was all the appointment was for, he asked me the exact same things the other dentist asked me, and also knew my answers to them because the other dentist told him them.

He also asked about my meds and stuff i'm on for being mental and asked how long i've been on them for and i said since about 13 and hes like oh right yeh so hormonal, why did he even need to comment on that, it isn't hormones.

to make it worse i have to go for a ct scan, which im not going to do so well at and then probably an mri scan, which i know i wont even manage to do.

I have no idea why im posting this, i dont know where else to go to ask if anyones had stupid jaw problems. its just stressing me out so much, the last thing the dentist said to me at my last appointment was, its rare to need surgery on this kind of problem however the problems i'm having are also rare to happen, and he seems dead interested in like me, so i dont know if hes just realy enthusiastic about mouths in general, or im some freak with a weird jaw which means im probs going to end up needing surgery anyways.

I've never had problems with my jaw, but I'm sorry that you are. It sounds really stressful and the timing is poor what with your dissertation and everything. Good luck with handing that in tomorrow by the way. The relief will be immense! :p

Hope things with your jaw get better soon and that you don't need to have surgery.

I've had TMJ for nearly 8 years now maybe, I've never had to see a physio about it, I was, however, given exercises to do and a mouth guard type thing to wear at night by a maxillofacial specialist
There's a ton of stuff online about helping TMJ and ways to ease the pain (I think the site is called the TMJ Association- they have a lot of info), you say it's stressing you out and stress is one thing that definitely wont help, especially if you clench your jaw when stressed or have stress related bruxism which can be common with tmj. I hope you are able to find something that helps you soon

I have had TMJ for 13 years and it flares off and on. I've found the forcing myself to intentionally relax my jaw when clenching helps ease the pain some. As does ice packs on my jaws whenever they start to swell and such. Try not to clench! That is the worst thing. Also, as I'm sure you know, don't chew gum or anything like that, it will only make it worse. I hope things get better for you soon.
