Anti-Virus
yo breadbins,
Erm my Norton Anti-Virus has run out. Woe. I cannot afford a new one!
Are there any free trials or completely free anti-virus programs that people could recommend?
Also, I believe when you install a new AV you need to completely remove the old one, how do I do this? (Obviously I know you do the control panel add/remove programs) but I'm sure there's an anti-virus removal tool that the PC guy told me about when I bought my laptop?
anyway help would be appreciated, I will reward you all...somehow.

I presently use Avast

Most people seem happy with it these days (unlike Norton). I like Avira too but it can give false positives
Thankfully I haven't used Norton in years so I haven't had to use a removal tool. Here is a video that shows how to remove NAV:

I use Ad-Aware antivirus. It's free and hasn't let me down yet.
I have mine set to automatically update itself and scan my computer twice a week.
This month alone it found 3 viruses in my computer

To be fair you'd be better having no anti virus compared with norton.
I use windows security essentials

first of all norton is a virus in itself. the 2 best virus protection programs on the market right now are kaspalsky or NOD32 both have a trail version you can download that gives you a month free so just use one after the other. avg free isn't too bad i wouldn't bother with mcafee it is useless as is norton although norton will stop a fair amount it slows your computer down anyway i hoppe that helped a little.
