He can't be using scouse in this, though, surely? I thought I was better at picking up on accents than that... odd...
And thanks for pointing out that he played Quirrel! I hadn't noticed that!

On the subject of it being triggering... I agree, but part of me is really pleased by that. Not because I like being triggered, but because of how it manages to affect me that way. There's nothing gratuitous or graphic - it's just that the programme's team have managed to capture EXACTLY what it can be like, and that leaves me hopeful that some of what I see might also be seen by people who haven't been through it. Does that make sense to anyone?
Yeah I don't think his accent is scouse...can't work it out either!

And I have to say, I agree with that. I think it's triggering but because it captures emotions and doesn't try to shout "LOOK AT ME IM A SHOW ABOUT SH!" It captures the emotions and feelings and things behind it.
And just the wording, it's how normal people would tell someone etc. I do hope it speaks to people who don't understand self harm and mental health, and might help them see from the other point of view

Yeah, exactly! It's refreshing that Rae isn't a 'tragic hero', or some ethereal, unrealistically attractive damsel in distress that someone is going to try and 'save', or even an unrelatable 'nutcase'. There's no glamour or romance or horror attached to the mental illness side of things at all, for a change. She's just a teenager getting on with her life... perhaps with a little bit more to cope with than some, but it doesn't define her, and nor should it.
I also like that we're three episodes in and her diagnosis (even though she must have one) hasn't even been mentioned.
Has Anyone Read The Book? If You Have You Kinda Know How It Ends, Lets Hope The Show Actually Has A Conclusion And Not Leave You Hangin Like The Book Does ;)

Completely agree!
I just have to drop by and proclaim my love for this! I think Sharon Rooney is a revelation, her facial expressions are fantastic, like last week when her mum went a bit weird because of the new diet! Really, really hope she ends with Newt :P

Yes Finn/Newt is melting my heart! I was cringing when she stopped hugging him, his poor face! Why do people think treat em mean keep them keen works?! It surely has never worked! I wonder if there is another love interest or if Finn's nickname is Haddock because the real life author of the diary came on the radio and was asked "So did you ever get it together with that biy Haddock?" And now I'm confused, does Finn have the nickname Haddock by any chance?

I really liked it - I nearly didn't watch it because the initial trailers made it look like some kind of weird surrealist teen-angsty thing (shrinking pub etc), but I accidentally caught the first episode while channel-surfing and thought it was fab - really sweet and tender and not too self-indulgent. And I, too, loved Kester.
After tonight's episode (last in the series), which I think wrapped things up quite nicely, the C4 announcer said there will be a second series, which I think is good news :D Hopefully it'll still have Kester in it!
