I need some courage. I'm thinking of going to the local office and talking to someone, but I'm scared. I've done it before and the person I spoke to was great, but I'm really worried that I'll have a bad experience. I feel horrific though and I've done really stupid things. I'm not under the CMHT and haven't been for months, so they're not an option. Family are also not an option.
Some encouragement and maybe some experiences would be really helpful.

I've never done the face-to-face thing before, but I have called the Samaritans before when I've been in a complete state and found them to be really helpful.
I've never used Sams but everyone I know that has used them has found them very helpful.
Perhaps you could articulate your fears to them, and explain what would constitute a negative experience for you? That way they will be in a better position to know what kind of support you would like, and I'm sure they're used to people being really nervous.
Go for it my friend. All the help you can get is a good idea. It can be a very reassuring experience sharing with others. As stated above, they won't judge you. I would imagine the staff there do the role because it is fulfilling for them and they care about people just like you. They are there to help you through difficult times. Also as family aren't an option, seeing someone outside that part of your life is a very good idea. Good luck and please stay in touch.
I have never done the face to face thing, but i have used them before and they are really helpful.. Like you said you have seen them before and it helped, just push yourself and i hope it helps..
Don't worry, we're all really lovely! The Sam will be probably just as nervous about meeting you! Remember though, we can't give you advice, we can only help you explore your options and discuss your feelings in as much detail as you wish. :) Hope you find them/us helpful!!
Rarely on here nowadays - I just trauma dump on TikTok instead.
I've visited a Samaritans office in person twice, it's absolutely nothing to worry about. You normally have to ring the buzzer, someone will say 'hello, how can I help you'? Just say you need someone to talk to, they then say push the door go sit in the waiting room and someone will see you shortly. The waiting rooms are nice, mine has fresh flowers, magazines. You usually don't wait long before someone comes, they take you to a small private room, ask if you would like any tea, coffee or biscuits and they chat to you exactly like they do when you phone them. They won't rush you and you can spend as long as you like there.
Make sure you check the opening times of your local branch as I know mine is only open some days during the week. Good luck xx
Push will get a person almost anywhere except through a door marked “pull".
