Trying for a baby :)
Hi everyone :)
So I'm in a dilemma. Me and my boyfriend have finally decided to try for a baby. Were both in our 20's but because of my eating disorder which I am now in recovery from being in hospital a year, I still have no periods but have a fair idea that I'm still ovulating.
My therapist has told me that getting pregnant can still happen but I was just wondering if this has happened with anyone else and if there were any complications and how it effected your recovery?

I don't personally have experience with getting pregnant, but a very good friend of mine was in much the same situation as you, she carried C full term, baby was healthy, but J(friend) she had some issues with jaundice and while she was very healthy for baby throughout the pregnancy - rightly believeing it was no longer her life, she did struggle 7 or so months on. Overall she is pretty good, and determined to be recovering/recovered, but it has been a struggle and it was not something she'd planned, and thinks she ought to have waited a bit for.
I suppose the best advice I can give is really really be sure. Be sure you are well for You first, because although you would have incentive to be healthy and well for baby, sometimes MH can get in the way of always carrying it out in practice, be well, be recovered, take some time living for You and then look to babies.
It is possible. But you come first.
xx

I dont know. i would say when your body is healthy you will be able to, some people never can, but its a minority. You should read a book called an apple a day, its based around a woman who recovered so she could have a child xxxx

You dont need to destroy yourself anymore, we all know you were good at that,
now retire from all that hard work you do
of bringing pain to those sweet eyes and heart

Wishing you all the very best for this journey, certainly seems a good motivator and I would also recommend keeping engaged with support regularly even if you appear to be doing well, to keep you on track. All the best xxx

Hi everyone thank you all for your replies! :) So me and boyfriend have been discussing all of the following and we have decided that to find out if I'm 100% ovulating that we would buy a set of ovulation kits in which i'm gonna start today and take it from there.
To ensure that my body is prepared for carrying a baby Ive began taken WellWomen pre-conception tablets which include the recommended amount of folic acid and currently being weened off medication.
As for the book, Ive never heard of it but it definatly seems worth the read if reading from a recovery aspect.
Its very strange though because when at the lowest of the lows I never thought this would be such a problem but only time will tell I reckon. Gonna go to amazon and hoke out that book just to get another point of view which could very well help.
