Internal backgound noise
I'm sorry I am really bad at articulating what I am trying to explain.
It came out last week to my therapist that I have like a background noise in my head. It is like white noise or fuzziness. I have normal 'fore thoughts' but in the 'background' it feels full and messy. I don't know what it is, it's not voices or thoughts I don't think but its something. Does anyone else have this or is it as strange as it sounds?

I experience something that feels akin to what you're describing...for me it gets worse when I'm tired. For me, it typically feels as though there are everyday "world" noises in my head (kind of like the white noise you get from traffic, people talking, general environment sounds) and they get louder the more tired I am. Sometimes these noises will become voices that I hear internally, though they are not in my own voice nor am I in control of them. So I don't know if that's anything like what you experience or not, but could be something to compare to!
Is what you're experiencing actually causing you distress or are you just curious to see if it's something other people can relate to?

I have no idea what it is, but I too feel like I have 'forethoughts' and 'background thoughts'. Is it sort of like you can think of two different things at the same time, one louder and more clear at the 'front' of your mind, and one more muffled group of thoughts at the 'back' of your mind?

I don't think it is tinnitus as it isn't a noise exactly, its more like the black and white fuzziness you used to get on old tvs.
It does seem similar to what you guys have described which is reassuring. It also can cause me to feel like my head is spinning with it moving as I guess their are some physical sensations attached to it as well.
No it isn't causing me distress I was just curious to see if this is something most people have or a weird thing that only I do. I am glad to know I am not the only one who has a busy mind. It doesn't affect my daily life I am just going to class it as a quirk. We will see if my psychologist thinks the same or whether I will be referred back to my psychiatrist over this.

Yes I get similar Boise..the traffic sounds are quiet close. It is constant fuzz, like when a tv/radio isn't tuned properly. I also struggle with filtering out background noise (that isn't in my head.)
