Please, please, please tell me you are using new and proper needles on everyone?! I'm presuming that you don't have or use an autoclave for the machine, and are tattooing in a home environment? Scary stuff! I don't say that to be bitchy, it's a genuine concern what with infections and possible disease(s). Also, please don't say you are tattooing anyone under eighteen.
Your stuff is good, especially for a beginner (although the writing is a bit heavy and black for my taste), it's just that there are so many safety concerns surrounding this sort of activity.
I'm also pretty sure that the law says you must be under the supervision of a licensed premise to tattoo others...?
^ She mentions in the first post about it being hygienic and legal and all, and then a little while later about legalities (post#29), which means all of this is above board, safe and legal, as well as mentioning her mother-in-law is the main 'canvas' (post#30).
It doesn't matter where you come from; it matters where you go.
No-one gets remembered for the things they didn't do.
We won't all be here this time next year,
so while you can take a picture of us.
We're definitely going to hell,
but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

None of that answered the questions. Personally, I don't think (and many others would agree) that it is ever safe, nor should it be legal, to tattoo out of a home environment where there is no autoclave and cleanliness isn't really up to surgical standard. However, if Marie can post herself and clarify or elaborate then great.

I know for a fact that Marie uses disposable needles in her tattoo, for the exact reason that she does not have an autoclave.
In terms of the legality of practise, I am unable to find more than anecdotal comments on the law about tattooing in private, though I'm sure Marie looked into this thoroughly, and what happens between consenting adults on private property tends to be no business of the government anyway. To practise tattooing as a business or trade one does indeed require licensing, the details of which vary amongst local authorities.

I am a little shocked at how stupid you seem to think Marie is....
I sterilise my FLOOR before I tattoo, never mind anything else. I use new needles and tips with every tattoo, clean and sterilise my machine/s between each tattoo and keep everything within hygiene regulations. As far as legal matters go, I have been in contact with my local council and I know that everything I'm doing is legal. Cheers.
Also, I have a legit, safe, sharps bin to dispose of my needles and have contacted the appropriate authorities (waste disposal) for when I need to change my box.
And I would only ever tattoo anyone over 18. Everyone I am currently tattooing is aware of the situation (that I am learning and currently unlicensed) and are very close to me and are giving me their time/skin to practise on and nothing else.
Thank you for your compliment, Claire, but I am practising and tattooing as hygienically and safely as I can, and exactly as required by law :)

There was no need for that. I was asking genuine questions. The risks of tattooing in a home environment are much higher than in a professional environment, even when things are done "safely".

I hope you are using decent medical-grade disinfectant. Even though it still won't be as good as tattooing in a more sterile professional environment.
However, I've said my piece. I wish you well with it. Getting an apprenticeship can be the tricky part, depending on where you are willing to live/work.

I think it was more the tone of your questions. Like, they are valid concerns, but I too felt it was worded quite unnecessarily aggressively.
In other news, I'm quite experienced in getting piercings and tattoos and would not of let my girlfriend get the tattoo unless I was confident that the set up was legit and hygienic.
In even more other news, I legit want a tattoo next January please Marie!
Thank you for the good wishes. I am more than confident that I am practising hygienically and safely and legally, and that is my piece said on the matter also. I wouldn't dream of putting people at risk.
I'd love to, Jenna :)
Now I'll play your ghost as my ace, whenever I'm led astray.
But I am actually good, can't help it if we're tilted.
I'm in my right place, don't be a downer.
Yes please, Jenna, I'm only on my phone at the moment.
Thanks for all your loveliness, everyone <3
I'll have a few jpegs in a couple of days time :)

I'm not really sure how a "professional" environment is more sterile than a home one, considering how many more people are traipsing in and out of a tattoo shop day after day and bringing all their germs in.
