Selling online

Hiya!

Does anyone no how to take good photo's of what you are selling online,
so people can see as clearly as possible?

I struggle with this.

Thanks
Louise

But it depends on what you're selling, what are you selling?

Make sure whatever you are taking a picture of is in good light.

Good lighting is very important. Others might be able to give better advice on this.

When I used to take photos of artwork/small sculptures, I used to place them on a large piece of white paper in a sort of L shape (without the crease) so it just looked like the backgroud was white, or you can use Photoshop for this.

If taking photos of clothes, a tailor's mannequin can be beneficial.

I use white foam board as a background and just got one of these to add onto my DSLR and it is honestly amazing! So much better than just the built in flash alone.

Try to take pictures in natural light but that is hard at this time of year.

You need to make sure items are in focus, accurate colours and with no distracting background most importantly.

You're entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret. All the best people are.

I nice piece of velvet or satin would make jewelry look good. I would avoid using flash

Also, have a look at how other jewellery sellers do it. Some people do it very well and others don't; see if there are any other tips and tricks you can pick up from them.

It depends on the nature of ththe jewellery, quirky pieces look better draped on unusual items. Delicate traditional pieces look good'on velvet or satin.
