I wouldn't be in uni without my taxis from DSA I cane travel on buses because of thoughts and paranoia. Trains I can do just not alone.
I don't have any friends so im afraid I can't help. I do talk to people and sit with them at lunch etc just no real friends I'd ever see outside of uni.
And if your thoughts should turn to death, you gotta stub them out like a cigarette..

I'm glad we both have DSA. I once tried to get to uni on the Underground to test myself and I ended up with security dealing with me at the station because I had a massive panic attack. My support worker is trying to help me use buses/Underground/trains with more than 5 people in the carriage but it is really hard.
It's ok. I can understand how extremely hard it is to make friends. I am glad I have Charlie, he's the only friend I ever see; we met on an autism website (he has Asperger's too) and we understand and support each other.
How far do you live from Uni? I live 13 miles away, takes me 80 minutes to get to Uni by taxi due to sodding London traffic.
PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.
I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.
That is good. Although personally I hated halls and I prefer to live 13 miles away at home, rather than at halls. Because I got bullied when I was in halls in Cambridge University. The bullying made me relapse, then I got kicked out of Cambridge for missing three weeks of lectures due to being in hospital. I came to University College London and opted to stay in supported housing and I never looked back.
But I hope halls works out for you and that you get a good room.

20 to 30 minutes is ok. I'm sorry to hear you feel lonely. Do you have a mentor at uni? Is there someone in the disability centre that you know that could guide you towards something that would help you make friends?

I dont have a mentor as such but there are people to help anyone with disabilities. Ive just been referred to see a psychologist as well to touch on confidence and things x

To be honest, I barely talk to anyone at uni, I have friends outside though. Hoping I can work on it this year though.
I don't talk to other people at uni either. I just talk to my support worker.
I hope that you will be able to make some friends though.

I think I watched that when it was shown; it was very good. It gave me some hope that I can battle this.

Do you feel that having a mentor could help? Before I got my support worker, I had a mentor and she was very helpful in keeping me organised and getting me access to things the University offers.
I hope the psychologist will help, will you be getting any particular type of therapy?

I might get referred for psychotherapy, but that's for my OCD.

Ive had psychotherapy. It helped. Although did lead to a long hospital stay.
I'm glad it helped. Why did it lead to a long hospital stay?

Because I told her everything. But it wasnt just that, I had a psychotic episode while seeing her and ended up in hospital.
She was great though she came to visit me in her own time. Then she sent me presensts on my 18th birthdday =)
That was nice of her. But sorry to hear you had a psychotic episode. I spent my 16th, 19th and 21st birthdays in hospital unfortunately, but it is nice when someone comes along with presents and good wishes.

Being in for my birthdays didn't bother me much but I have been in 2 Christmases, that was awful. Bt once we smuggled in some whiskey! Ha ha!
Haha smuggling in whiskey! Christmases on the ward sounds crap; I was very lucky to have my section end on the 23rd of December last time I was there during the winter, so I spent Christmas with my Dad. I'm really glad I missed the Christmas "celebrations" on the ward; apparently they were loud.
