Heck, even over here in the US nurses and doctors find a reason to say that to us self-harmers. We pay our own way here (helped by insurance), but we are still accused of wasting resources. We're taking up beds, staff time, etc., that "could be used elsewhere." God help you if you don't have insurance.
Change GPs post-haste. You didn't overreact whatsoever.

My name is Matt, and I am a boy. Feel free to PM me :)
I have learned that the world is not a safe place. Not at all. But there are so many people who love me and want to keep me safe. And that is enough.

I've had an experience like this with a plastic surgeon today. Refusing to treat me because it's the second time I've had serious self inflicted burns. even though i have not touched the skin graft!
Sigh. My GP is amazing though so I agree they're not all bad

I've had that too with a plastic surgeon, the police took me to a&e and then to a different hospital where the burns unit is. The surgeon seemed very angry that i was there again, which i can understand (well I can understand him feeling frustrated and powerless, maybe not anger), but he could have censored it. He did though, give me the option of having a graft done, but i decided not to. It took quite some time to heal by itself! I hope your wound will heal okay without complications. Hugs.
